Reviews for Orbital Defence INitiative: A Brief History
Antares chapter 1 . 11/5/2011
Well written, but...

First of all the weapon was indeed an energy projector of some kind, as its hinted in the 4th book... stuff about energy consumption, cities MELTED from top to bottom and pennyroyal describing the stikes as heat-ray shots... it would be pretty difficul to take the subtle, somehow unimpressive approach of a missile for the sky-shattering lance of energy of an orbital energy gun...

Then there is the issue of the operativity of the weapon... the stalker fang, at the end of "A Darkling Plain" set it to explode, and it did; shone brigtly on the sky for a good while...

Still, its a believable alternative story (even more believable than the death ray thingy on the books). Not bad...

Wish to see more weapons here!

Cmdr. Gen. Marasco chapter 1 . 12/1/2010
Hmmm...an intersting concept. Though it is mentioned in the book that there's a laser system on board, not a missile one, and there's mentions of a beam sweeping across the ground during Fang's attack against the cities. But, that can be explained away by you, I am sure.

Other than that, an exelent piece. Perhaps we could work together on descriptions for some of the other weapons mentioned in the series...
