| Dragon Wench chapter 1 . 4/13/2012
I just came across Heart's Recovery and then I read this...
What a poignant and lovely story. Though depicted in a fantasy setting it feels incredibly real.
To not be able to be with the person you love is one of the most painful experiences possible... you have captured the elation, the ache and the bitter-sweet joy so very beautifully.

Omg, I'm sobbing my heart out here you wicked woman you lol.
What a beautiful story and I agree with Lady, you must write a sequel for this and possibly incorporate it into the other one. Two birds, one stone an amazing story, voila! Job done lol.
Thank you for this, I now need to go buy more Kleenex :-)
| Erynnar chapter 3 . 2/12/2011
OH this made me cry. WONDERFUL! And I too hope you write about Dane finding out about his father. I just love this story. Thank you for sharing it with us.
| Erynnar chapter 2 . 2/12/2011
OMG, I feel so much for both Dara and Tris. His gift to her was so beautiful. But when Tris sees Dane, and then gives him the amulet? I had to use kleenex. Such a great story, and as always, written by a very talented writer. _

OH MY! I need a very, very cold shower! That was, WOW! *fans self*
| L. Century chapter 3 . 12/14/2010
that last chapter was such a tear jerker...but its bittersweet b/c the reader knows that it does happen and dane will become arl...so at least all of her crazy efforts in the end proved to be fruitful.
| Windchime68 chapter 3 . 12/12/2010
I loved this story (and I'm sorry it took me so long to read and review!). The relationship between Athdara and Tristan was nicely built up, starting from pure attraction and becoming something much more. The original characters were well drawn and fitted in well with the setting, and I loved how you wrote young Dane.
Loved the meeting between Tristan and Dane - just adorable.
Liked Tristan's agonising over what to do about his two separate responsibilities, and how he made certain his wife and children would be taken care of.
When Tristan finally resolved to leave his family so that he could be with Athdara and Dane, I knew what had to be coming, since the Perth family are still intact in Heart's Recovery. But the tragedy was heartbreaking all the same - especially little Dane blaming himself because Tristan had given him his protective amulet.
Loved the final twist that Tristan was actually from a noble family, which gave added import to the fact that the amulet would be a sign to his family that he had acknowledged Dane as his son. If you do decide to write a follow up about Dane discovering who his true father is, I'd love to see where you go with it.

Oh, that's so sad :( Athdara's story makes me appreciate Dane's character more and that he did realize his mother's dream for him, though the family life was unhappy.
Awesome, as usual and if you did write a s to D&T I wouldn't object! :)
| nubbins chapter 3 . 12/7/2010
Wonderful story, thank you.
| Liso66 chapter 3 . 12/7/2010
My heart broke when Tristan was mulling over ways to be with his Dane and Dara. So you can imagine how I felt when I learned he died. "sniffles"
This was an amazing three chapters. As a companion piece to Heart's Recovery, it more than cleared up some wondering thoughts, it was profoundly emotional.
Dane should know who his real father is? "shrugs" That would be a tough call to make. Would it crumble all he believed? Or make him more understanding about his mother? "shrugs more" Or... would the writer find a way to confound us again? "grins"
thank you so much for this.
| Zeeji chapter 3 . 12/7/2010
This story has been great. Looking forward to more!
| Nithu chapter 3 . 12/7/2010
I knew there couldn't possibly be a happy ending but, a part of me still hoped *sigh* A very sad story - beautifully done. It would have been easy to slip into being maudlin or overly sentimental, but you avoided it. I look forward to a sequel at some point.
| Shakespira chapter 3 . 12/7/2010
How heartbreaking for poor Dara and Dane, and yet I knew something like this would happen to explain why she became the woman she was in the other story.
Wonderful and moving. Thank you for sharing this part of Dane's life with us.
| Liso66 chapter 2 . 12/3/2010
Talk about being on the edge of my seat! I knew Tristan would not come for him, or at least ultimately do so, due to the other story.
But but but! I was all angsty waiting for a confrontation! Which you have seemed to leave hanging in the air! "sneaky writer!"
The revelation that Tristan realized he has a son made my heart sink. you did an amazing job and conveying his emotions.
| L. Century chapter 2 . 12/3/2010
I really disliked the mother in heart's recovery...but now i find myself feeling guilty for disliking her...ah now that's quality writing! and his father sounds a bit hunky...very beautiful how the father doesn't continue with dane afraid others would realize...that part i found touching...but the necklace was silent acknowledgement...the life the outside world sees in contrast to the truth
