Ahhhhh I loved this so much! The little touches (especially under the table) and the moments when Roy felt so alone feel even more poignant in how they contrast and led up to them finally being togther

Really atmospheric and really beautiful. Captures the tension of their hostage situation and the strength of their relationships just beautifully through the descriptions and the mood. Loved it.

i know it's been years since you posted this, and i have no idea if you will ever see this, but i wanted to leave a review anyway because this was absolutely amazing. every emotion came through so clearly, and i absolutely love your writing style so much. it's got such an ease to it, yet it punches you right when it needs to. i really hope that whatever you're doing now, you're still creating things because this is absolutely beautiful.

This was a wonderful read! Roy’s POV was perfect - I loved being able to see how all of the storylines kind of converged with him, despite his team no longer really being a team. I think my favorite interaction that you wrote here was with/about Breda... your development relied on mannerisms, thought processes, and logic rather than conversation and interaction. I absolutely loved it. Thank you for sharing such a great fic!

the feeling of absence in this fic is so well done and it just lingers in all the small moments between the scant action that happens. i really loved the parallels that you did with the action increasing - stuff as simple and ultimately benign like a boot touching another - with the reference to the musician in the second-to-last scene.

pieces like these highlight why i enjoy royai so much as a pairing: it's the moments that are left unsaid, and rely on actions to speak far louder than words ever could. i also really liked that the focus wasn't entirely on royai, but on the wider picture of just how close team mustang must've been in coming to central in the few months before they were Rudely Torn Apart. it's easy to have tunnel-vision when dealing with this chess move by the homunculi and only focus on the angst of royai being seperated, when the entire team would be suffering equally.

plus i'm very weak for smut when it doesn't really register as smut alone, but as a side to all the ~emotions going on and this fic nailed it 100%. ty for writing this!

This was beautiful. I enjoyed you taking us along with Roy in his various encounters with his men after their unit's been dismantled by the brass. It gives us a very poignant vision of not only Roy but the people who have been with him through the thick of it all.

I'd like to give you my thanks especially with how you portrayed his and Hawkeye's almost silent brushes with each other that culminated in that emotional rendezvous toward the end. I like how you also included the element of familiarity amidst the new sensations as is characteristic of them, I believe. I can see it happening in canon, no matter how small the chances may be.

Wow that was bittersweet. I like how you showed the tedium in his daily life now that he's separated from his team, and particularly Hawkeye. it's kind of a zombie-like state he's fallen into without his closest confidantes, which is really fitting. And I like that they don't try to fill that moment in her bedroom with useless words when they already know everything that needs to be said. And how even after they've done this and taken the biggest risk, Hawkeye is ever-careful and won't be meeting him for lunch this day. It's an excellent portrait of their time apart and those fleeting moments where they can be reunited. Well done.
