This is just splendid. I only meant to skim it but ended up reading the whole thing. I thought your observation about Morse's need to believe in something was very keen. I've had the same realization myself - he idealizes women, artists, art - because of a deep need for joy.

I enjoyed reading your story and would love to see more of it. I'm not a big fan of the Christmas Carol and almost skipped over this because of that, but I'm glad it didn't. The first chapter is great fun, and the second is very touching.

"Detective Chief Superintendent of Christmas Past" :D
This is such a nice (and also sad) look into Morse's past. Very nice!

Love this! I can never get enough of Christmas Carol in all its versions, and never would have thought to combine it with Morse. Brilliant! Looking forward to more.

Very nice story! You absolutely captured Morse's and Lewis's characters! I have only known the show for about a year and I love it. There are far too few fanfics for this amazing fandom, so thank you for this one, it's a real jewel!
