Righteousham chapter 39 . 1/5/2012 You have come up with a very solid idea for what season 3 may have been, and executed it with skill worthy a Terminator. Please excuse the bad pun. I enjoyed how you expanded on what Canon gave us in terms of characterization but kept the characters grounded enough to be recognizable. The one exception to this I feel was Weaver, in your story she seems to not care about Savannah at all while evidence from Canon shows she may have at the very least developed a fondness for her. This was only a minor detraction form the overall whole though. I loved your version of adult Savannah and the arc you gave her. I never expected to like her as much as I did, by the end she was ranked as my third favorite character behind Cameron and Ellison. I was pleasantry surprised when both Sarah and Ellison were main characters as I find most writers tend to down play there rolls in these types of stories. I also liked how you handled the growing romance between John and Cameron, it was well thought out and written with maturity. It was also appreciated that it did not dominate the whole of your work as that has a tendency to happen as well. In terms of your plot, I did enjoy it but there was at least one major flaw that I found. Cameron's plan of taking John Henry to "Future" John just doesn't make a lot of sense to me. If she is doing it to to help defeat SkyNet, why not stay in the present where it is relatively weak? One could argue that she knows doing that would upset the time-stream but your story goes on to point out that there are many alternate time lines, so in that context her plan still doesn't make much sense. There has to be a justification for why Cameron gave John Henry her chip and went to the future, and the reason you came up with seems to be just a gloss-over of what is probably something important. I also wish to comment (positively, this time) on your Terminators in general. You are one of the few writers I have encountered on this site that writes them as being as solid and tough as they are in the movies, this was unexpected and very welcome. The fight at the end between your two terminators (Baldy and Steroids) and the heroes was one of the best, and most intense action scenes I have read on this site. Bravo! While on the subject of the bad guys/machines. I though you did a fine job building Kaliba up into a genuine threat. SkyNet as well, was written very menacingly and altogether they came off as dangerous, diabolical, and most important of all competent. To many writers on this site fall into the trap of dumbing down the antagonists so as to give the heroes an easier job. Which, coincidentally, makes the story boring; I am glad to see you didn't do that. Mechanically your writing is very good. It's clear you have not only talent but skill and you practice often. Your understanding of story flow/structure, pacing and raising/falling action and Climax is clear. I found no spelling mistakes and grammatically you did fine as well. Though I do wish to point out while the use of the word "whilst" is technically correct, it grates on me considerably and always managed to drag me out of your story. Though as that is wholly a personal, and admittedly petty nit-pic you may ignore it. Overall this is one of the better stories I have read in any fandom and I would recommend it to anyone who loves the series. Looking forward to your next project. -Jerem- |
RedsBaron chapter 39 . 1/2/2012 I have just read the entire 39 chapter story over the last several days. I LOVED it. It is one of the best fan fictions I have read. I was sorry to see Derek die mid-way through, but I really liked the two Savannahs, which I thought was an intersting concept. I was also glad to see Ellison be developed, as too often he isn't mentioned at all in fan fic. I especially liked the characterization of Cameron. The story held me is suspense, half expecting Cameron to die in the end. Five stars! Terrific story! |

098765432345678 chapter 39 . 12/9/2011 So I've been kind of a jerk and read through this entire work without posting individual chapter reviews. That being said, I read the entire "I Love You Too" storyline and have adored it, every step of the way. Descriptive. Believable. Complicated. Consequences for making decisions, even good ones. Flawed characters. Gritty realism: not everybody gets a happy ending. That's how it is. Reading your epic tale was a good use of my time and a very satisfying closure to the series for me. Cheers! |
