Apologies for being late to the party - didn't think you'd mind being told how great this is yet again, though! Really got me in the festive mood now, ta muchly. :)

What an adorable seasonal story! Mary, Joseph, Star Inn, three wise men from the East, snow angels and Joy to the world (but where were the shepherds?). But there is genuine emotion in Alex's mingled happiness and grief over the baby and Gene's discomfiture about assisting at the birth. Thank you for this lovely Christmas present.

Delightful story! I really enjoyed the series one-ishness of this, with all that humour, the flirting, the fun and innocence of Gene and Alex's relationship. I made a not very ladylike guffawing sound at the three wise men and the whole labour scene had such great comic pacing. Thanks for this festive treat and happy new year!

| x-MJ-x chapter 3 . 12/29/2010
Just finished reading this and I have to say it was beautiful a very orginal and heart warming idea. I love how you used elements of the nativity and I almost died when Gene made snow angels for Alex. That was a very cute little touch of Galexness and then the rest of it - the actual Galex wss just perfection.
Was a very nice little post Christmas present.
Please write some more soon.

Fluffy fluff. Exactly what was needed for poor Gene & Alex at Christmas. Thanks Siggy. :-)
| Katie Duggan's Niece chapter 3 . 12/24/2010
Perfectly in character: the moments when Gene, uncomfortable at the prospect of a woman giving birth, bosses Mary around while Alex provides practical support. What I hadn't seen coming was Alex's heartache in the moment of holding the baby, a little girl.
A much-to-be-desired thwarting of the series arc: Alex and Gene finally escape all interruptions, despite Alex thinking the following: "She was rather enjoying her own little Christmas Eve fantasy. Although truth be told, she had been enjoying a different kind of fantasy until that blasted phone interrupted. Perhaps someone was trying to tell her something? She rather hoped not." I think we all know who the someone is by now.
And I liked these Gene-isms: "'... does Christmas come with added fruitcake?'"
"He wondered how two inches of snow could bring London to a halt where Hitler had failed?"
"'Just what I need. Three bloody wise men.'"
And to all a good night. Nice.

Loved it! :D With regard to it being unashamedly sentimental and seasonal - that's allowed at Christmas.
Thank you for sharing

| Malena Hunt chapter 3 . 12/23/2010
Still giggling at the appearance of the three wise men! This was so beautiful. Loved the image of Gene Hunt making snow angels; not totally unexpected in a story full of lovely surprises. I only wish it were longer! :)
Thanks for this, Mrs H, and for your lovely Christmas wishes. I too wish you and your loved ones a wonderful Christmas and an even better new year. xx

Really loved this second chapter, its very wnonderful to read and I admire how well you've updated the characters of Mary and Joe as normal people from the 1980's, hope Gene and Alex find Mary and Joe
