| onemilliongoldstars chapter 9 . 10/7/2011
Thought you could get rid of me that easily? 'fraid not ;) this story is really interesting. The Rachel/Jesse relationship is very different to any other St Berry story I've ever read. The underlying tension and angst is there all the way through and you can really feel it. I feel sorry for Rachel though, even if running away was stupid, she must feel so alone and abandoned. At least Jesse has some semblance of freedom- he's eighteen, if he really wanted to he could leave, find a job and crash with a friend. The point is he's legally an adult so he's not reliant on other people as much as Rachel. The only place she can go is back to her dads who would just send her straight back again, so I do feel for her. I was worried about what she would say about Karaofsky, I'll admit I thought the worst. Anyway, this should be really interesting! I look forward to an update!

I can honestly say that I laughed out loud several times in reading this chapter, and had a smile on my face for a lot of the rest. Yes, I know, there's all this angst between Rachel and Jesse, but it's just so fascinating to watch them go after each other like five year olds.
Once again, it may not have been your intention, but I'm completely loving Aunt Becca. She's firm and fierce and completely unflappable, and I'm getting such a kick out of the way she's handling Jesse and Rachel and their dramatics.
"No self-respecting teenager ever wants to go home when there's something better to do. Hence, there's clearly something about you that needs to be fixed."
This is what I mean. Absolutely priceless dialogue. :)
Becca and Shelby clearly have thought of everything. Although being without money or their cell phones will be torture for Jesse and Rachel, it really will force them to interact with each other. Of course, that interaction will be antagonistic for the next while, but I think that will lead to a lot of interesting drama between them.
It was fascinating to see Jesse actually listen to both Becca and Shelby. He's strong-willed and usually does what he wants, but clearly these two women are capable of putting him in his place and getting him to behave.
Can I just say that I love the middle name you gave Jesse? :)
I did cringe at the idea of Rachel and Jesse helping with the remodelling. As Rachel admitted inwardly, she's no good with tools. I somehow don't see Jesse being any handier. The room could end up a total disaster. Then again, it's in pretty sad shape now, so maybe anything would be an improvement.
The angry words between Jesse and Rachel? Harsh, but long overdue. They really need to talk everything out. There's so much between them that hasn't been dealt with. They may not like it, but this is a golden opportunity.
I did feel bad for Jesse when Rachel drenched all of his stuff, and I cringed at the destruction of the iPod. (As someone who couldn't imagine living without mine, I share his pain.)
This continues to be a riveting story. Looking forward to the next installment, as always.

Ah, so much angst on both Jesse and Rachel's parts. Can we get to the making up already? :P
Moving on. The following are some of my favorite parts in the chapter.
"What did you do?" he repeated, and the sound of his voice made the hair on the back of Rachel's neck prickle. She'd never heard him sound angrier or more dangerous. His fury seemed to fill the room, eddies of rage swirling like dust in the corners, and she shrank back against the wall. Normally emotions did not frighten her—she was used to frustration and disdain and even anger being cast her way. But this was a different beast entirely. Not only was it Jesse—the one person who broke the rules of what did and did not affect her—but he was mad. Angrier than she had ever seen him.
-Angry Jesse scares me about as much as he scares Rachel. While St. Berry shippers seldom write this side of him, I do think it exists. It's just the way he is: passionate. And the way you write this just floors me. I never anything bad to say about your chapters because there's nothing bad to say!
"Amends?" Jesse dropped the word between them as if it tasted bad, then turned abruptly to face Rachel. "Why the hell would I want to make amends?" His eyes were all she could see as he advanced on her, snapping with anger. She couldn't move—she could only stare as he came closer. Close enough to touch, then a step more, pressing her back into the wall without touching her. "This," he grit out, "is all your fault!"
Rachel closed her eyes against the sudden prick of tears. Yes, this was her fault, and she knew that. She hadn't meant to get them both stuck in this awkward situation. But she couldn't look at him when he was so close and so angry—couldn't be near him. She flinched to the side, slipping away from the uncomfortable proximity of his body, and her hands groped blindly for the open doorway.
-Again, angry Jesse is terrifying but so very Jesse. And backing her up against the doorway to intimidate her, again, very Jesse. Rachel's reaction was also so in character. As much as I love her, I have to say that she does have a tendency to run away from things. Never in the show does she confront Finn about the way he treats her, and even when Jesse came back, not a word was said between them about the egging.
"You seriously put his bag in the shower?" Shelby sounded shocked and, curiously, a little proud.
-Love this. I laughed so hard. It is so like Shelby to be proud of Rachel doing something like that. :)
Again, like always, an excellent chapter. You always leave me wanting more by the time I've finished, which is probably why I've read and rereading both your St. Berry stories and your Spring Awakening story so many times. I cannot wait for your next updates on all three of them.

Becca is amazing. I hated her at first, but I'm falling in love with her snarky attitude. And Rachel dumping Jesse's stuff in the shower...best scene so far!
Can't wait for an update!

| Broadwayfreak5357 chapter 1 . 9/13/2011
"Because of her, of course. Because every time a new dance partner rolled herself into his arms, he was instantly barraged by images of an infuriating little high school girl with the softest hair and biggest pipes he'd ever known. Because Shelby fucking Corcoran's fucking daughter had to go and tuck her cute little fucking self under his ribcage, next to the heart he'd sworn he didn't need. She'd slid her tiny razor-sharp kitten claws into his beating fucking heart, and even now - now, after he'd ordered her out of his life - she was still there, immoveable, no matter what he tried to do. He closed his eyes, he saw her. He opened a music book and heard her. Even things that shouldn't remind him of her did. Nobody here in LA dressed like Rachel, in her ridiculous knee socks and sweaters. And yet these multitudes of nameless blondes in their identical surfer chic wear reminded him of the dark-haired little irritating monster he'd left behind in Ohio. Or, rather, they reminded him of her absence, which was more or less the same thing."
This. FAVORITE PART! besides the end :P
You are so awesome & talented & I'm glad I have 8 chapters left to read :D

Wow! Great chapter. For someone who's an only child Rachel sure knows some tricks, and for someone who knows most of the ploys you'd think Jesse would know better. Becca's great too.
I like the interaction between Jesse and Rachel as well. Neither of them know how to deal with their feelings for the other. And of course their both dramatic and feeding off all the negative stuff at the end rather than the good times.
But does Becca really think its a good idea for them to share a room? With all that passion and tension between them they're either going to kill ech other or jump each other! I wonder which:)
Can I ask if any of ND will come up. Even in arguments? I can't really see Jesse holding back on his opinions of Rachel's teammates. One or two in particular.
Please, please update soon. I'm pretty sure I'm addicted to this story and you;re one of the top 3 writers on St. Berry. I need to get my fix!

Jesse and Rachel both have a lot of anger - at each other, at the world, at Shelby, and I think it will do them a lot of good to deal with it. I kinda love Becca in a weird and twisted way. LOL It is going to be harsh for them for a while but I think they will bond again over all that made them fall for the other in the first place. That's mainly what is causing all the pain - broken hearts. I kinda cheered a bit when Rachel took Jesse's bag and threw it in the shower. Laughed a lot when she ran to hide behind Shelby. Fun chapter! I really enjoyed it!
| MissRe chapter 8 . 9/12/2011
Yeah, I have to wonder how the whole Shelby thing will play out this year. I hate that they brought J Groff back to just toss him out like they did. I don't think that Finn would be a good fit for New York - this city would eat him alive. LOL I loved the talk that Rachel had with her dads and while I think it is extreme I think maybe they have the right idea. I can't believe that she got hurt like that again and a small part of me doesn't blame her for running. I think that working on a show and getting her confidence back will be a big help as well dealing with Jesse and with Shelby. If nothing else they can all move on knowing that they tried. Excellent job.

Oh my gosh, this is really getting good :) I was highly entertained by this masterpiece of a chapter! I would love to hear Jesse's side of things a little more, figure out why he's so pissed. I also can't wait for Jesse and Rachel to interact more! Thank you for creating this amazing piece of fanfic! My free time is totally indebted towards your brilliance
| er1nsg1rl chapter 8 . 9/10/2011
Absolutely loved this story and your other glee ones as well. You have a real knack for writing the complexities of the characters (better than the writers themselves in most cases).
Please, please, please update soon. I really want to see how Rachel and Jesse manage to deal with leaving together.
I know ND probably won't make much of an appearance but I'd love to see how they'd react at finding out Rachel's staying with Jesse. I keep getting this scene in my head of them finding out during a rehersal and calling Rachel on speakerphone to give their opinions, and Jesse listening in and asking Finn about his views on their situation.
I blame you since your Inevitablity oneshots show him taking a couple of them to task for their treatment of Rachel and in general.
Thanks for writing such awesome stories.
