![]() ![]() ![]() Bittersweet ending for such a story but I like it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I will say, I loved this story! Very well writen I look forward for the sequency. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I'll be honest. I skipped to this chapter, saw that most of the Normandy crew didn't survive, then decided I don't want to read this story. Sometimes, I wonder why so many authors on this bloody site are so allergic to happy endings, always bashing them as UNREALISTIC, or inferior to downer endings because, you know, TRUE ART IS ANGSTY. FFS. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Foreign dignitaries invading the sovereign territory of the Asari Republics and literally arresting one of its citizens? How exactly hasn't the Destiny Ascension bombed Palaven to dust already? I predict a lot of asari spectres having accidental misfires near traitorous officials in the next few weeks. |
![]() ![]() Anticlimactic tbh. Hope you enjoy the rest, because it's no longer intriguing to me |
![]() ![]() ![]() RIP. Good to see there were consequences for Cerberus going all in like they did. And they even broke open the Asari espionage ring. I doubt they'll get them all, but it is an almost unrepairable blow to their image as a whole, for better or worse. I did like the news report at the end. Nice summation of the galactic-wide thread. |
![]() ![]() ![]() kagehisa, of course this will become a CYOE. Be patient. I mean seriously, doesn't the creation of an "alternate ending" tell you everything you need to know? I'll spell it out again, but without the sarcasm. Author is perfectly aware how stupid the story becomes with Tali, Garrus, and Anderson surviving the hunger games because they couldn’t eat the poison berries being dextro and all. Yes, the fact that Peta and Tali are in such a fortuitous position to carry on his legacy is so headache inducing, eye rolling bad; one tries to find deeper meaning… Hah! There is none! Every ground team member snipping a green wire simultaneously - thus preventing a duffle bag of ACME T.N.T. from exploding with :01 seconds left on the timer - would have been less cliché, and he is aware. This is what pride looks like, so back off a bit and let him act like the CHOYA part is his idea or you’ll ruin the experience of watching him ruin it, for everyone else. |
![]() ![]() God damn, you really know how to hit us with the bitter, then trickle in the sweet while still making us feel scarred. I hope Garrus makes it, that cockroach he is. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wait... you actually killed off shepard?! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I remember reading this story years ago and regretted not saving/archiving the whole thing. Many stories ended up being deleted for various reasons that I enjoyed, but I'm leaving a review as an additional...request. Yes, if this latest chapter was any indication, you have the story set in an ending where majority of our main characters end up dead. My request would be to have the extra chapters posted, even as a separate fix of "What Ifs" as the Normandy Crew all survived (minus the obvious Jack and Thane and Kennith of course). If you can or your willing to have "Good Ending/Majority Survive/Victory" chapters, great. If not, I will still enjoy your fic. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Damn, completely overrun. I had a bad feeling when Grunt went down and Shepard went out to get him. Still startling to see they all got wiped except two. Damn Garrus has the worst/best luck for surviving clusterfucks... though probably because he was in the back as the sniper and everyone else was protecting Tali as their silver bullet. As much as it sucks this is actually a very interesting way to go about this route. The implications for the wider Galaxy would be fascinating too. Though logically speaking with the Geth, if they believed in the Reaper threat coming, would they escalate to building as much as possible as quickly as they could? I mean it would be more complex considering the rest of the galaxy watching... but it would seem to be the most logical route, especially if they made up with some of the Quarians, who would need protection. I look forward to where you create the divergent timelines as well. It'll be fun to read what subtle changes alter the outcome. |
![]() ![]() ![]() damn... |
![]() ![]() ![]() Well, I am relieved to see someone stand by their artistic decisions. Sure, when I first read this story, I was disappointed like everyone else. When you’ve enjoyed someone’s story telling, and followed their work over time, it’s only natural to want to see them succeed. With the author committed to the ‘Tragic Hero’ trope, declaring: ‘Happy Ever After’ off limits — imagine my surprise when the reader gets a ‘Ever Tragic Hero/Happy After’ conclusion. Everyone dead, and Shepard’s fish too. Well… almost everyone anyway. Which characters survive the, 'For Tomorrow: Massacre’? …Protagonist Love Interest, Protagonist Best Friend, and Protagonist Mentor; all made it… everyone else dead? Huh.. Well, you bet I thought it was garbage. Then I took 5 hits of LSD instead of 3, and I saw my failure to "get it" was the real disaster. The author told us this wouldn’t be a happy ever after story. It was my inability to think that anyone would purposely be proud when they presented their readers; that... that, thiiing! I had been a fool! A great chance at story telling hadn’t been wasted. The artistry was seeing a story that could have been a Fandom great, so willingly tossed like a piece of trash; away. A fanfiction ending so terrible it demanded a ‘alternate ending/non-authors-cut’, and a rewrite, and the ending only gets worse with improved grammar. That’s the beauty all you other bitches can’t see. This Legendary Edition ‘clean up’ was a chance to become more than some cautionary tale aspiring authors refer to over Discord. All you Simpletons are incapable of seeing the artistic nuance. This never was about pride or constructing a story with a satisfactory ending. Rather, it had always been about the journey… of ruining a story. Then adding a few more chapters and making your story into a ‘Choose Your Own Adventure - Ruined Story’, where the reader get to pick how to ruin the story one of two ways. And starting the journey over- with new friends made along the way(celebrating Tali’s ass in 4K), before ruining it again. I couldn’t do it. |
![]() ![]() ![]() I was wondering initially what his plan was since they didn't need Xen. It definitely helps to build that reputation as the paragon, as it is much more effectively surprising when you put down the rabid dog and use its assets for yourself. I think people forget what being a N7 means, at least in the wider galaxy. Overall, very satisfying. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Damn. RIP Legion, Jacob and Kasumi. Felt as harsh as when losing squad members in ME2 during the Collector base assault. Though that last data burst from Legion to the collective... one can hope they saved the data, it would make a fitting memorial for them. On the other hand, Shepard is going to be on the warpath, and it ends (hot or cold) with the Illusive Man eventually. |
