what an awesome begining... and i haven't even read the story!
seriously though... i agree with the expressed sentiments in this preface, and i'm actually impressed that you put so much thought into your story... most don't.
though i'm not surprised, having read your other work.

This was scary - the description of accessing the Dark Side especially so - but it was also very, very sad. The girl's POV was skewed from a life of abuse, alienation, and the impact of something that she did not understand. Her being almost helpless when she accessed the dark side, and how she felt when she found out that she wasn't alone was downright heartbreaking. And then the end. The bright spot? Piett survives. *hugs him* Anyway, this was amazing (and IMHO it's still within the 'T' rating...most of the nasty is disturbingly implied, not outright stated).

Yup, the last sentence works. It's quite evocative, and it works. And links a lot of the elements of the other stories in this series together. You don't mess with Vader's people. Seriously, just don't.

Hearts. In. My. Eyes. So much. The image of Vader picking up a 4-year-old in pajamas, hopping some balconies, and then checking said 4-year-old's bedroom for monsters works - it sounds odd, in concept, but the way it is handled here SO works. In the eyes of a child Vader is a a mythical force, and one that a child would turn to for help. An unstoppable protector. 3 3
