Lovely banter. And a great introduction to Hawaiian food. I can relate to Danny, this wouldn't be for me. The fact that he takes off his tie is a great thing, and I laughed at the tie pool.

Oh! This was such a nice surprise! Gorgeous writing! Such great description and atmosphere! Did make me a little hungry for sashimi (and sad that soy gives me migraines so I have to enjoy those edamame vicariously.) I love that there was a tie bet. The characterization was effortlessly convincing and your original character read spot on for the scene. A really lovely short story!

This is so funny! I get the same reaction from people when I serve steamed edamame. Local foods are always an adventure! You did a great job with the banter-and I especially like the "Tie Pool."
