Please add another chapter
| Netherwood chapter 1 . 8/2/2011
I can't see myself getting into any situation remotely like this, or probably any of my close friends either. But, you wrote it well enough that I can see why Tsuruya and others would take an approach like this, and I can see where they're coming from. In other words, you showed me a point of view outside my own. Thanks. Add me to the list of people who are glad you have this story up.
| A Random Reader chapter 1 . 6/9/2011
I'm not entirely sure how to take this story. It is definatly well written, keeping in the concept of all that is 'Kyon', yet having expaning Tsuruya's character.
However the actual events do seam unrealalistic. Tsuruya definatly lives in the upper class and I cannot see her offering sex to applease Kyon. Moreso; if Kyon is as angry as the Anime and your story suggests I guess he would have just cut and run from the situation. Even if Alcahol is involved.
I just can't see the characters preforming the two actions, but your characterizations, conversations and environment are well written. And I definatly see your point, Kyon would definatly need more than a litre of milk to calm his anger.
| Lord of Murder chapter 1 . 6/6/2011
after reading this through i find i really really dislike it though thats probably more to do with content than quality. the way you've written tsuruya in this fic disturbs me.
| sarsparilla chapter 1 . 5/17/2011
This is a surprisingly insightful and thought-provoking short story. I still remember how I dropped 'Sigh' in disgust after running into the incident that inspired this fic, and it took a conscious effort to continue to the end of the original story. While I usually prefer to stay away from skinship fic, this one is done discreetly and it somehow manages to make the original incident more palatable, I could even say despite the skinship part.
In my opinion, the story is at the same time very plausible and completely impossible. The convincing part comes from excellent portrayal of the two main characters. Personally, I find Kyon the most difficult mask to wear but you do it with great flair. The attention to detail and cultural knowledge makes the story a compelling read. Tsuruya strikes me as a person who could totally see casual sex as 'not a big deal'. People who dislike the idea are most likely holding a double standard. After all, most males would probably be ecstatic if they could make up by making out :P Arguably, it is Tsuruya who is in a position of power in the situation and taking advantage of Kyon. There could even be sinister undertones depending on exactly where Tsuruya's true loyalties lie.
The completely impossible part can be distilled to one word: Haruhi. Combining her intuition with Kyon's role as the butt monkey of the series, it would be 100% guaranteed that Haruhi would get to know about it at the worst possible moment, with singular consequences.
Anyway, thanks for this story, I enjoyed it thoroughly.
| Clement Rage chapter 1 . 4/26/2011
Um...people have already pointed this out, but I'm not sure that Tsuraya taking him home and sleeping with him is any better than 'Haruhi willed his anger away.' It's not really relevant to forgiving either of them.
| Phoenix Helix chapter 1 . 3/24/2011
I first have to thank you for uploading this fanfiction: there isnt many in the Tsuruya-San that ive found this indepth, which leads me to my review.
For a one-shot you showed much more to Tsuruya-San's complexity while keeping her in character; very hard for one such as she. Kyon's reactions were exactly as i would have expected of him; keeping in character as the righteous and altruistic type at the same time as being a hormone driven teenager especially under the influence of the alcohol and Tsuruya-Sans willing offering. and over all the scenario was extremely well written; the idea that we the readers would have to let the idea of their 'time together' play in our minds got a laugh out of me too: concordantly i was expecting it written in full detail but the actual result came out as a surprise. For that i have to say: Well played!
As for the topic in your final notes about the troll: You can satisfy everyone some of the time and satisfy some people all of the time but theres no possible way of having everyone like what you write every time. but to those who dont well noone ever forced them into reading it. there are things ive read that i just do not like so i just leave it. take a troll's critisim with a pinch of salt: they eventually do go away and hopefully get a grip.
To conclude this rather long review let me just say i really enjoyed this piece and i'll be reading it every now and then as a favorite. Keep at it!
| BrazeRancor chapter 1 . 3/4/2011
It LIVES! Glorious.
I think it's repeated disappearance has made me love it all the more! Like a rare creature that you only get to see a few times, haha. That said, I will be greatly saddened if this fic disappears forever. It IS one of my favorite Haruhi fanfictions, though I'm sure my bias towards the Kyon/Tsuruya pairing is probably the main culprit.
I do hope you make a few more Tsuruyon stories, either as companions to this, or a whole new vein. I'm hoping to see a bit more of them together soon (That is to say, if the reality of the Kyon/Tsuruya relationship ship in 'Later' proves to be what I expect...) which would be great.
Great story (You know this). Excellent punctuation/grammar etc. More Kyon and Tsuruya.
Don't let the haters get you down!
| Rorschach's Blot chapter 1 . 2/23/2011
Interesting fic, very fitting.
| Raineh Daze chapter 1 . 2/19/2011
It's back. Well, time for me to read it again.
Kyon appears to have been watching TTGL.
If Haruhi is a god, she's one plucked from Greek mythology, at least at the beginning. Selfish, dangerous, and someone who'll never accept that they're wrong. At least she improves... XD
I think this may be the only story I've ever read where Kyon gets kidnapped.
Tsuruya's actions are excessively energetic in this. Guess she's just nervous...
Bath scenes: is there any story they can't find a way into?
Heh, such gloomy thoughts, Kyon. I suppose you are a prisoner for the night.
Always wonder why seiza is so uncomfortable to people. I tend to sit in it without really noticing. Like now, even though I'm on a chair. XD
And Tsuruya does her best to be a peacemaker. Good luck to her.
I think this may qualify for 'most relaxed I've ever seen Kyon during the canonical timeline', since he's not calling Mikuru by her family name.
I wonder how Tsuruya knows so much about Haruhi's thoughts? Hmm... curious.
The alcohol thing doesn't surprise me. And Tsuruya is quite, quite mad. I wonder how much she gave Kyon?
That bit always gives me the feeling that Tsuruya has been raised to apologise excessively if she ever does anything wrong. Probably so that she DOESN'T.
Kyon, everyone you know is insane. XD
Can't imagine Kyon ever doing something like that again (he would be sober, after all, and regardless of what Tsuruya said, he seems the type to feel guilty about such things) or Tsuruya really pressing the issue. I guess they'd just leave it as a secret for all time. Whether or not this affects the K:BDH-verse... well, it's never going to come up, is it? Secrets are that for a reason. And the only way it COULD possibly be revealed is if one question was asked. Which is also unlikely, especially given the strange arrangement in that.
| MisterSP chapter 1 . 2/2/2011
I don't entirely disagree with the troll, though he is taking it too far, as well as some of the other reviewers. To me, Tsuruya is essentially selling her body to Kyon in order to make him forgive Haruhi... and this strikes me as rather immoral and ineffective. Because it has nothing to do with Haruhi, there's no reason that Kyon should believe that she's going to avoid that in future.
I'd like to think that Tsuruya is going along with this because she *wants* to have casual sex with Kyon, but doesn't really know how to go about it, because otherwise she would have even less of an idea about socially appropriate behaviours than Haruhi. Though, that Tsuruya is using it as an excuse to sleep with Kyon isn't that much better.
That is to say, while you were bothered by the idea that Haruhi willed his anger away, I'm bothered by the idea that the acceptable response to dealing with a person who molested a friend of yours against her will is to ignore that it ever happened and have casual sex liaisons with other women.
I suppose that Tsuruya can apologise for *her* part in things by offering her body in exchange, but Kyon could - potentially, in a world of human responses and limited mental capacity - forget about the issue with Haruhi, but that doesn't count as forgiving, nor should he, ideally, if Haruhi shows no sign of having understood.

kind of realy good.
Interesting story. I hope its not a oneshot.
I like this kyon and tsuraya
| Einander chapter 1 . 2/1/2011
Well, to put it a bit bluntly, this would be porn-without-plot if it wasn't for the cut-away. I suppose I'd say it lacks thematic flow? Not narrative flow; while the resolution of the plot is dependent on Tsuruya's own brand of insane troll logic, I can understand why Kyon would be less angry afterward, if simply due to confusion and pleasant hormones. The rest of us lack that, however, and so it feels like it lacks emotional progression.
Of course, I'm judging that you're aware of that by your comments, so that's it, really. (Other than that 'Kyon is pimping himself out to Tsuruya for her favors to the club' is now part of my personal crack-fic canon, because that is utterly hilarious on some level I can't quite understand.)
| Arkhe chapter 1 . 2/1/2011
I'm quite fond of themes where approaches at relationships are done differently from the norm and this one ticles my fancy! Additionally, writing first-person can be difficult because of the rule of 'showing and not telling', but I think you got this view down solid. Great work there!
You shouldn't let that troll get you down. Unsigned reviews are deletable, and signed ones... well, I have little doubt you have enough supporters thanks to 'Kyon: Big Damn Hero' to pick apart a close-minded troll's stories'.
Anyways, getting back on-topic about the story, again, I enjoyed it. In all honesty, thanks to Endless Eight I'd nearly given up on the Haruhi-fandom, but your writing has honestly brought me back! Much kudos!
(I'd have reviewed K:BDH first, but this one appeared on my radar, and I'm a sucker for Tsuruya!)

Very well done, I like it!
You're well on your way to becoming my favorite author on this site, so keep up the good work.
Always waiting for more,
