I already have read soooo many times your stories and I never get bored. You're AWESOME !
| lil smiles chapter 1 . 10/6/2011
I should not be starting to read fics at 3 a.m.
Especially ones that are multi-chapter and as wonderful as yours.
[There's no guilt and if he's honest with himself, there hasn't been in quite a while, and this knowledge propels him forward, his hand reaching up to tuck a loose strand of hair behind her ear.]
Purely beautiful. Love.
There's just this tenderness when you write Jane and Lisbon that nobody else can capture. Makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
I shall continue my read tomorrow, but I just had to leave a review. Miss reading your work my dear. It always puts a smile on my face :)
| Duppy Conqueror chapter 7 . 6/28/2011
Aaawww Rigsby. He's so sweet. I always enjoy moments where Lisbon shares her past with Jane because the lack of it on the show allows the audience to sort of lionize Jane without remembering Lisbon's been through hell as well, but she ain't out to kill someone over it. She destroys the sucky home life defense, because yes it's awful that some kids have it rough and go on to commit crimes, but there are plenty of others who had it rough and become upstanding citizens like Lisbon.
Rigsby too for that matter now that we know what his Dad is like. Sorry I liked the romantical parts but I was more struck by Rigsby than anyone in this chapter.
| Duppy Conqueror chapter 6 . 6/28/2011
Sorry this took so long especially since it was a post-Cuba gift! Loved it! From the opening scene (who hasn't felt like fist pumping when they realize that against all odds, and with a new man in the house and all, there is food!) to the ending it was perfect. That awkward when does he leave? Do I want him to leave? is universal but also so J and L. Everybody wants them together but nobody really talks about what it would be like if they were. Probably a lot of passionate rushes combined with awkwardly stilted moments just like you present here. Truly lovely job!

Guh. Really, this is just a fabulous fic. And Jane's words as they consummate - "you know this is it for me," - are just perfect. Exactly what he would say, and I love that understated yet utterly heartfelt sentiment. You really are too good!

I just discovered The Mentalist about a week ago, and have already burned through the first two seasons... I was thrilled to find your work here, and love this scene - you have both Jane and Lisbon's voices nailed in this, and I could picture every moment between them. Can't wait to read the rest of your stories!
| blueMnM415 chapter 7 . 6/11/2011
AH! Super cute and adorable despite all the tension and it was great! Can't wait for more!
| Jisbon4ever chapter 7 . 6/11/2011
"Many of us crucify ourselves between two thieves - regret for the past and fear of the future." - There's just something about that quote. :)
I love the Rigsby/Lisbon friendship a lot. They are my second best. I like how this chapter focused on that. They really do have things in common. Of course my favorite part was the Josbony, but that is no surprise. :) Lovely how you keep them IC. I just love that about you and your stories. Wonderful. Keep it up.
| hardly loquacious chapter 7 . 6/8/2011
Yay! You posted it. Yay for my Lisbon/Rigsby! Also, I quite enjoy Jane shadowing her in the first half. It is excellent. This is really lovely.
| LittleMender chapter 7 . 6/7/2011
After Lisbon's relationship with Jane, her relationship with Rigsby is my favorite on the show. They really are like brother and sister, or like Rigsby is a male version of Lisbon. He likes the rules and being a stand-up person. One of my favorite scenes with the two of them is Rigsby trying to pattern (imitate) her behaviorisms in an attempt to build/strengthen a rapport between them. Lisbon calls him on it, and he's all kinds of awkward and embarrassed, but you can tell she thinks it's a hoot. I love that he respects and genuinely likes her-that endearing mix of fear and affection a boy can feel for his big sis.
You captured that so well here. He would do whatever it took to protect her without any thought of possible consequences.
I also like that you told us what happened to Wayne(after referring to it in an earlier chapter) as well as shed some light on the Christmas kiss between Jane and Lisbon. Their movement in these earlier sequences is slow, but they would be-so cautious, so wary, so afraid of doing or saying the wrong thing, which would be anything less than the perfect thing. They have to be careful and weigh each word, each action.
As always, looking forward to the next instllment. Thanks for such a lovely read, Yaba!
| Frogster chapter 7 . 6/7/2011
Aww, good old Jane/Lisbon fluff :) Love how she can open up to him; I think he's the only person she can open up to. And vice versa, obviously.
I find the thought of Jane getting Rigsby an obnoxiously big stuffed animal from the gift shop hilarious, and just the thing Jane would do.
I do wish you would have included Lisbon and Jane's talk, but maybe you'll include that in a future chapter? wink wink nudge nudge poke poke
Great job! Update soon!
| Afterglow04 chapter 7 . 6/7/2011
Awww. This has got to be one of the loveliest chapters ever, if only because it kind of had a mix of everything. And I love the fact that it was just as much Rigsby/Lisbon centric as it was Jane/Lisbon centric. So like I said, for me it's the absolute perfect mix.
I secretly think you like keeping us in the dark as to what exactly is going on until we get halfway, that's definitely an ability you've mastered even if I don't handle suspense well :p I mistakenly figured it would've been a family-related issue (even though I'd read they'd been at a crime scene, but idk, I was imagining something horrible had happened to one of her brothers) and I have to say my heart actually skipped a beat when I read it was Rigsby who had been shot. I'm far too protective of him, really. And I liked their interaction in the hospital room a lot, with Lisbon barely able to keep her emotions in check. She truly is like a lioness protecting her cubs :D
Most of all, I love your Lisbon in this story and in this chapter specifically. Because the confusion she feels, the reluctance at accepting the dinner invitation even though she has feelings for Jane, her thinking it's all still a little too new...it's spot on and I really enjoyed her inner thoughts. I also liked your mention of how between the two of them, Jane is definitely the more damaged one and yet he's not as guarded as she is. I think that's a very true and clever observation, because despite the tragedy he's had to suffer through, we all know a lot more about him and how he thinks than we do about Lisbon. Though I did very much enjoy Cho seeing right through her at the end and casually mentioning where Jane went. 3 3
In short (lol. as if i ever keep it short), I'm so so glad you didn't decide to just give up on this particular concept, because you managed to hit the right balance here, which isn't easy. If you hadn't mentioned in your A/N that you struggled quite a bit with this one, I never would've been able to tell. You still make it seem so easy and effortless to write all of these, even though I know that's not always the case. And that is definitely part of your talent.
I can't wait for the next one :) (and am secretly hoping you'll include their 'first kiss' moment somewhere down the line. heee.)
| watchyouwalk chapter 7 . 6/7/2011
You already know that your writing makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, so no need to bring that up again. ;) I actually quite like the jumping around, timeline-wise. It's neat to see how they got from point A to point B, imo. And I think this chapter, particularly, would fit pretty well with canon - it's relatively similar to how they are now, gaining solace from each other just by the other's presence. Feeling comfortable enough with each other to discuss personal details and disclose private thoughts that they would never share with anyone else. Simply being there when the other person is hurting. It's so them, and it's so perfect! And even the addition of Lisbon and Rigsby's friendship is really fitting, especially after their interactions in the episode about Rigsby's dad. She's his boss, yea, but as we all know, she's very motherly toward her team, and I think you captured that really well here - she's worried about him (and also feeling a bit guilty), but at the same time, she wants to scold him for being so selfless. Very amusing, and very Lisbon-like. :)
