Aww, such a sweet telling of a Hikaru and Akira friendship story. However I do wonder about the plot hole of what happens to Hikaru's parents and how in the world he made it Korea.

i think it would be cute just to do a sequal like thing giveing who won the race then some how move it to them some how achieving the hand of god... but on the other hand i love what you did with it! .

i really enjoyed reading this! deaf!hikaru was a very interesting choice to do.

i am confused on one thing. the reason why hikaru ran away i am guessing is because of his parents right? or was it because sai died(assuming he is also in this story). Or both...?

and the one who hikaru spoke of looking at games with "plain simple joy" would be sai right? and the line "How had Ko Yeongha managed to "give him a reason" to beat him?" i am assuming means that Ko Yeongha had insulted shuusaku aka sai and that is the reason hikaru has now for playing as well

this is what i gathered. can you tell me if this is what you intended to get across? since we only have akira's point of view i am also grasping at answers

I like that Hikaru has that hint of darkness, of mystery about him-but it's not overwhelming; he's still the bright and happy boy that he is in canon.

Making him deaf was a stroke of genius, and just imagining him and Akira arguing in sign makes me laugh.

Beautiful story.
