So I was going through my favorites list, looking for an update. I then noticed that "Kyon: Big Damn Hero" had fallen down the list of updates and wondered why. So your profile brought me to this gem. Thanks! (I'm still hoping to get more of this AND K:BDH, but that's my own problem)

Not much to say about this that hasn't already been said (probably, if I bothered to look at other reviews). It is good writing, and you seem to produce a larger word count than most (Bonus, in my opinion), but you've filled ten chapters with setup and no battle/action in sight (barring unexpected attacks, I'm not sure you could progress to show how badass the setup is building up to be for at least a couple of chapters). You know what I say? Go for it! Wouldn't be the first time I liked a story that focused heavily on setup (check out "The Gamer," a Korean webtoon by Sung San-young and Sang-ah!), and you're in too deep now to suddenly say "Ten weeks later, at the Chuunin Exams...
...please don't take that as a challenge. I'll just wait and anticipate how awesome it's going to be when the genin cut loose, or at least do adequately when the difficulty level gets set to Nightmare.

Honestly, I'm just enjoying the relationship building going on while important things happen to change canon in the "background." Although it's not strictly necessary, it is fun to see the rookie nine and the sensei group react to the same events.

Umm, not sure if there is an actual critique in there somewhere. Hopefully you got something out of this besides I'm enjoying this immensely. Good luck, and try not to loose any characters while writing!

Damn its sad to see that this and Kyon will no longer be updated guess its up to our imaginations now, RIP man your Fanfiction inspired me to start writing my own and I would say many others too, would consider it almost atrocious to put these stories up for adoption, you lit many bright torches here that could not be handled by many authors, sad to see people still requesting updates, hope you find peace in death that you couldn't in life.

how nice, the plot gets even more interesting! :) i really hope that naruto has an affinity to fuuinjutsu after maybe some introductions from jiraiya or sandaime.

Okay so I have really enjoyed this fic so far but there is one thing I feel iffy and that is the fact that the Hokage and the others all seem to be jumping on the idea that it is Orochimaru who the Hokage saw.

Granted I can see why they would think it was Orochimaru at the beginning but I can't help but feel that Hiruzen in your fic is jumping on the obvious suspect a bit naively. After all while Orochimaru is someone who would want the Senju and Uchiha dna there are probably hundreds of other people who would also try and obtain such assets as well. Plus the line "For the Village" would be too suspicious because even if Orochimaru had created his own village he wouldn't really care much for it.

Also, I would think that Hiruzen would be fully aware of just what type of person Danzo is and, maybe this is just personal preference but, I feel that Hiruzen would also be aware that ROOT is still in existence and what their methods would be in terms of keeping secret. Granted this is because I personally prefer Hiruzen allowing Danzo to keep ROOT, maybe acting niave, so that any missions that were vital but would look bad for the village would still get done and if anyone was caught it would be blamed purely on Danzo and not Konoha

I'm not saying that Hiruzen would know about the arm and eyes but I still feel he should probably dismiss Orochimaru sooner rather then later and not dismiss Danzo either.

Besides, if Orochimaru had sharingan eyes and Senju chakra then why would he have waited so long to finally make a move. Also, why would Orochimaru have attacked Itachi if he had already gained what he had coveted for so long?

Awww, this is cute! More please? It's really good and I want to see how things go from here. Shika and Shino are awesome and Naruto and Hinata are adorable. I like it. Seriously, more please?

cool story, but I see a big flaw (related to the will of fire) with the concept that all other graduates save the 9 will be failed without a chance. you could change one little thing - have them fail within the timeframe before the 9 even start assignments. add one day before or after Iruka's funeral if needed.

Okay, this has been an *excellent* read (as you can tell I was rather unable to keep myself from binging the whole thing...), shooting right into my top tier of Naruto fics - especially with it being such an ensemble piece! With just the right amount of levity to balance things out to boot.
(The Iroh cameo was delightful!)

It was nice to see Guy slipping in on the action, but I salute your restraint to not bring in his team at this stage (great though it would be, it makes far more sense). I like the fact, too, that everyone is starting to shape up (especially Ino, Sakura and Sasuke, who arguably had the most growing to do at the start).

I will be *greatly* looking foward to the next chapter (I do *hope* you're still updating!) Stupendous work.

I had to smile a bit when I read this chapter's team set-up. One of the ideas rattling around my head for a fic for a long time was a story in which the teams were set-up *exactly* like that (i.e. Naruto/Choji/Kiba/Asuma, Sakura/Ino/Hinata/Kakashi, Shino/Shikamaru/Sasuke/Kurenai) on assignment day. (Though mine would be, if I ever wrote it - an over-the-humor story.) It's a combination I've not seen anyone else use. Great minds, and all that...!

And I do believe we're getting an early on Danzo, which is nice, considering what a pants-on-head idiot he turned out to be in the end... I do hope the jounin will be able to ruin his [excrement] in short order!

I happened upon this story on a recommendation of one of the forums. It's really nice to find a good Naruto story again - it's seems like it's getting increasingly difficult.

I particularly like that it's a big ensemble piece - and the way the rookies are being trained is really novel.

(I think this is also technically a fic in which Naruto and Choji are on the same team - something that I've actually NEVER seen in a story before. I've literally seen Naruto on a team with every other character - but never Choji, so I'm looking forward to that!)

Hinata is also hysterical, and adding some much-needed levity into the proceedings. (Though to be fair, there was good reason for Naruto to not be quite his cheerful self.)

Excellent work, I will enjoy working my way through the rest of the story over the next few days!
