|Reviews for The Lost Book 13|
| Nathaniel chapter 1 . 11/18/2014
You certainly succeed in being funny. It may not be much in the spirit of Vergil, but it's hilarious, awesome, and fun to read.

first I wanted to say that I loved what you wrote. I had never read anything like this, it was very fun and original!
I also wanted to comment on your summary. You said taht The Aeneid is considered by historians as unfinished, and that because Virgil died while writing it it was still a work in progress... Actually many litterary critics and latin specialists have said otherwise. Now most specialists agree to say that the Aeneid was finished when Virgil died, he actually went on a trip with August not to finish his book but to observe the landscapes he was talking about...
I hope I don't sound snobbish for writing this! It's just that some of my teachers have spent years saying that The Aeneid was finished as Virgil wanted, before they were finally recognized by the scientific community... I just wanted to honor their work.
It doesn't take away the value of your story which was really good. Once again I hope you will take this review for what it is: a way to inform and spread the great work of great people, and an occasion to share my love of the latin language and its litterature.
PS: I most likely made thousand of mistakes while writing this review. Sorry I'm french and not ashamed to use that as an excuse...

Interesting. Very interesting. I studied Latin for five and a half years, so once I got the idea of looking up Aeneid fics, it wouldn't leave my head. I rather enjoyed this bit of humor.
God bless, Scae

If only they knew that he was serious...

Classics for the win.
I chuckled greatly throughout.
Having learnt the majority of book X for my HSC Latin Exam, I have a certain affinity for those who think Aeneas is a bit of a raging douche.

WIN. A lovely parody both of the Aeneid and the Empire's eventual demise.

or to mangle Cato, delenda est latino...
