Fellow Sufferer chapter 8 . 2/24/2011
Just something that caught my eye:

[quote]

Of course, those words coincided with the ice cream parlor he'd been standing in front of exploding into a ball of fire, the concussive force washing out strong enough to shatter windows for two blocks, and flip nearby cars onto their sides.

***

Daring to take her eyes off of them for a moment, she looked around at the still-burning wreckage that had once been a city block. Cars were flipped onto their sides or roofs, paint, tires, fluids, and plastics burning freely around blackened frames. All around, small fires raged, feeding on the scattered scree left from the explosion that had ripped up what looked like an entire building, before flipping and dumping back on the ground. Bodies were strewn around like so much spilled rice, broken, blackened, and sometimes still burning in the wake of what had happened.

***

"Hey," Uranus butted in, sending her teammate a glare that spoke volumes. "Who's side are you on? That thing over there," she accused, pointing a finger at the diminutive child nearby, "was eating the back of a car! It's been leeching energy out of the air this entire time! If that doesn't make it a Youma, what the hell does?

***

"Luckily no lasting damage was done today," Pluto stated in a more even tone as she discreetly moved between the two groups, as they neared one another.

[unquote]

So, to recap - an ice-cream parlor with people inside (if not a whole city-block) was literaly blown up. By "strewn around bodies" I presume you meant human casualties. Uranus and Neptune are likely wholly responsible for these fatalities - unless Tenrou has some automatic defensive systems or something. And Setsuna says "no big". And everyone agrees.

That's pretty fucked up. I know that Ranma is screwed in the head in this scene, but Outer Senshi have no such defence for considering the damage done "not lasting". From the way you paint Setsuna I can imagine her being ruthless enough about matters of life and death in certain situations, or putting her love before almost everything else - but that would be a planned act for her; she'd have to prepare herself for it. And, in the end, she wasn't responsible for these deaths. Haruka and Michiru, on the other hand, were. And while their disregard of "minor things" during their fights is somewhat canonical, portraying them as more "mature" Senshi, they never were THAT calluous.
Kensington chapter 11 . 2/24/2011
This was a very pleasant surprise to find upon waking up this morning. It's hard for me to find complaints with this story.

Ranma/Setsuna is one of my favorite pairings. The characterization of Setsuna is great to read. There are quite a few stories that depict her as an all-knowing puppet master or as an unhinged woman who can't cope with the chaotic presence of Ranma. To see her gambling everything on the reincarnation of her love... is quite novel and enjoyable to read.

It's great to see you publishing new material and I hope to see this updated more in the future.
Orchamus chapter 11 . 2/24/2011
Well shit, that was a...rousing chapter, indeed.
Orchamus chapter 10 . 2/24/2011

Orchamus chapter 9 . 2/24/2011
Probably the best adjustment to the memories ever.
Dumbledork chapter 11 . 2/24/2011
Quite the enjoyable read. So what if there are some clichés. The story is entertaining and that's what counts. Good grammar too. Can't wait for more.
Yak chapter 11 . 2/24/2011
I admire what you've done with this fic. My only complaint is that you once used the nonsensical word, "irregardless". "Irregardless" means the same thing as "regardless". Folks just mashed together the words irrespective and regardless in the same manner as ginormous. Since the prefix ir- means "not" (as it does with irrespective), and the suffix -less means "without", irregardless is a double negative and therefore would have the meaning "in regards to" when that is not the intent.

I read a couple of reviews which lambast you for fanon influences. I found your subversion of those cliches to be one of the more delightful aspects of this story. You seem perfectly aware of the body of Ranma/SM fanfiction which precedes this story and are evidently willing and able to play games with us in reference to it. Ranma going to the Juuban ice cream arcade and running into the Senshi; Ranma getting caught up in a youma attack and impressing the Senshi; Ranma meeting Hotaru and instantly forming a connection; Ranma eating lunch with the Senshi at school under the tree; etc. You setup each of these cliche situations, making me expect a certain progression of events, only to sharply divert from the usual path and go elsewhere. I smiled at every one. They were... delicious. Little rewards. Each one a subtle nod from the author that acknowledges our shared history of fics.

Ordinarily, whenever a Ranma/SM story has a flashback to its character's past lives I grow bored and either skim or skip that part of the tale. You introduced enough unknown elements into your story that I felt compelled to actually read the backstory to see if I could puzzle out what was happening. Releasing bits and pieces of the details worked wonderfully for you. I'm thankful that you released the first 11 chapters in one block, otherwise I'd have been rather annoyed at the continuing mystery surrounding events. The explanations come thick and fast in chapter 10, but didn't overwhelm.

I lied. I have a complaint aside from "irregardless". I never really bought into the conversation between Ranma and Akane in the hospital. He lectures her on using emotion based ki constructs, but he didn't convince me that they're as bad as he makes out.

Thanks for this fic. It's substantially different to the usual Ranma/SM fare while still paying tribute to what came before. I enjoyed reading it immensely.

Orchamus chapter 8 . 2/24/2011
One of the better memory regains.
Orchamus chapter 7 . 2/24/2011
This is pretty interesting, as were last chapters revelations. The question is, will the Senshi still side the same way?
iamnuff chapter 11 . 2/24/2011
great stuff, 11 chapters in a day? WOW

a little confusing at first, but everything is falling into place now.
Orchamus chapter 3 . 2/24/2011
Nice fight, I liked how well thought out it was.
Orchamus chapter 2 . 2/24/2011
Not unusual in it's portrayal of Serenity, though definitely so in the way it is set up.
Orchamus chapter 1 . 2/24/2011
The tone is set, and it seems like it's gonna be a bumpy ride. Cool
