This was wonderfully written, and I love Damian's dialogue/opinions in this. The idea that he would return Robin to Dick once he becomes Batman was cute. :)

i love your little story about how dick got the name robin!

you describe the relationship between dick and damian very well and the hugging part is totally adorable! :)

there are many different variations out there, how dick got the name robin, but i also prefer the one in which his parents call him "little Robin" ( since hes flying through the air and the red acrobat costume... )

i think that the title robin stands not for batmans partner, rather for the flying grayson family (like the design of the costume itself)

and i have to admit that in my little mind everyone who wants to actually be a robin has to go and asked dick first! ( thats why it was for me so easy to accept tim as dicks replacement)

...so that makes everyone who ever used the name robin part of the grayson-family

and it makes kinda sense since dick, jason, tim and damian ARE (thanks to bruce) kind of related! so no wonder hes sometimes a little overprotective about them...

... it also fits with the image i have from dick as a loving family guy, who likes to hug the crap out of people XDDDDD

i figure out that the circus in which he grew up was for him like a big family, thats why its not a problem for him to hang out with a lot of different people or work in lager groups like the titans or the outsiders... unlike a grumbling bat, or jason

so yeah... in my mind dick is just a cut, friendly, always smiling hugging-bear, with a littler brother complex... and serious daddy-bats-issues (like all robins)

Hmmm, kind of a chilling way to end your tale there. Was Damian referring to his plan to sell his soul for Gothatm's safety, as he apparently did in one future? Or was her merely contemplating using his grandfather's Lazarus Pits?

I like the way this is written, though I think that in trying to characterize Damien as aloof, there's a danger in using too much... "stiff" language. I'm not overly familiar with his character, but I've seen him a bit, and it seems to me he's just as playful/snarky as he is a techie narcissist.

It's like you read my mind. I've been thinking about this particular subject a lot lately (been on a Robin binge) and realizing how personal the name of Robin was and how most of them probably don't even realize where the title came from.

The exploration of Damian and said name was sweet. And Dick's affection for that kid never seems to get old. Wonderful descriptions and Damian trying to avoid hugs was far, far too cute.

And now all I can think of is Dick running around in his old costume. Or making Damian wear it. Hee hee.

Awww. Damian is such a sweety and Dick knows it. I've been waiting for the origins of the Robin name to be explained to Damian in the comics.

It seems to me that the last couple paragraphs are a setup for the events of Batman #666, where...

(SPIOLERS!) Damian appears to have made a deal with the devil gaining the ability to protect Gotham forever (immotality.) I am Dick Grayson's biggest fan, but unfortunately I also believe that the Batman who is depicted as dying in #666 is actually Dick not Bruce who was still Batman (at the time of publishing) until he "died" in Baman #687(?) and so Dick became Damian's Batman.

I like your style in this piece, I'll keep my eyes peeled for more of your stories.
