I have to say, your explanation is sound, and my cannon is now Morgause, Uther's bastard daughter. It makes sense. And I love how human you made her, and how she isn't completely evil, it makes reading this tragic to me, because I know she's not going to well... I get the feeling it's not going to end well... and mergana may not last long either... really it depends on Merlin. Killing Uther is a risky thing, because there's Arthur to consider, and as good a man he is, there's still potential of him being like his father, and he might even avenge him too. He still thinks magic is evil for goodness sakes, this is going to be tricky. I love how this story flows. It's not one episode next to another, it's one big story! Okay I'm not sure I'm a fan of the going wayward with cannon even though they didn't offer much information either about who Morgause's real father is, but not sure if I like the implication that she too is a bastard daughter of Uther because the show never clarified and it doesn't seem even Morgause knew about it or Uther for that fact... then again she was sent away real fast to the Isle so Uther probably wasn't aware, and if she did knew she never told Morgana because when Morgana found out she probably thought it would be more delicious if she became queen and undo Uther's ways because that would affect him more since he had a close enough father-daughter relationship with Morgana, it would break him.
You did a real good job emphasizing somewhat the heartbreaking tender side of Uther and Morgana's relationship, the only time I saw her being intentionally soft to Uther without thinking it was an act was after the assassination attempt by Tauren failed so you kinda sometimes forget that in a way Morgana loved Uther as well, seemed more like she hated him despite the fact that he tries..

Ah! :( Wanted funny time to bad, but can't deny things about to be interesting, well more so then it already is. You are a great writer. You really manage to make your characters so human, by showing their flaws so well, and how they would realistically deal with a situation. A part of me thinks oh gwen would probably talk to Merlin and Morgana about what she heard but that would be unrealistic because she was raised to think all sorcerers and sorceresses were evil and it would be understandable that she would think her two best friends are just lies. I get the feeling this will start a rift between the group. Ah, what the hell am I saying! I should just keep reading!

Technically Morgana marrying Merlin is not legal, I mean in Uther's mind. It should be... The whole servants not marrying royals is a stupid law.
As for them getting married soon, I know some people in my life who got married after a year or a few months of getting to know each other. Can't really testify if that was a good idea, but they seemed to love each other a lot. I guess with some people you just know, and personally I think love is supposed to be a whirlwind, and chaotic, where you didn't see it coming and didn't expect it and then all of a sudden you're in love!
This I think is my favorite chapter!

Yes I'm glad we finally get to see some Morgana and Gwen girl time, because we didn't get enough of that in the show.

Well obviously we presume everything that happened in 2x04 was the same except for the fact that apparently Morgana knows Merlin has magic and they've been having secret magic lessons though I'd presume that Morgana would try to save Gwen herself instead of just relying on Arthur now that she had magic.
Love the crazy nearly magic sex! xD And the ending was both heartbreaking and right. I can definately picture this happening if Merlin told Morgana he had magic and they became rather close. You could always sense that there was a connection between the two in the show, hell the show is introduced with both of them in the scene watching an execution take place, it was so symbolic to the future in a way. It would suprising if it evolved to this, but Merlin being Merlin still has mind to exercise restraint and with good reason too.

I have to say, I know it's shameful for me to say, either I'm to blind to see it, or the show didn't portray it well, and that's probably because somehow Merlin always ends up fighting magic instead of helping it, but you really did a good job emphasizing those innocents dying that I am angered by Arthur's (the supposed Once and Future King whose supposed to bring it back as well as everyone else's) indifference to it, and that in the end all Merlin and Morgana accomplished was giving Uther another excuse that magic is evil and a bunch of innocents ended up dying anyway being believed they were. It didn't matter that Arthur didn't participated, Uther is just one man, nobody did anything, and while Merlin's efforts of trying to do something without violence is sweet, it's ineffective. A part of me was hoping that you used the Dragoon guise for Merlin to have an alter ego and adopt or become a vigilante who saves people who are being unjustly harmed whether from the law or otherwise.

hehe omg the ending made this chapter epic! I love Merlin's wit! Though a part of me also wonders which of that is Merlin's and which of that is Morgana's. I'm guessing Merlin's because his lines are ussually the funniest.

Thank you for writing this story. It's a masterpiece. Though I could have wished the end were a little different. I don't like how Arthur and Gwen got to be self-righteous just because they'd never had to deal with the greif of losing the person they loved most, yet. Ah, but listen to me complaining, 36 out of 37 chapters were perfect, and it's just my personal opinion, anyway. Thank you.
