Stampboy chapter 1 . 12/28/2015
This is really beautifully written but it's highly inaccurate John was still living with his parents at the age of seven in fact he lived with them all the way up until 1916 when it was thought that for his protection and health that it would best to send him to live in the countryside. Johnnie may have not bee a public figure in the royal family like the rest of them but he was still a fully fledged member of the family who was adored by his siblings and his parents, it seems cruel but considering the time they were and the people that George and Mary were, compared to a lot of people of their class they actually did right by Johnnie. Queen Mary actually went as far as finding friends for John to play with and George was said to have shown John affection and concern. George certainly wasn't a coward by any stretch of imagination like that one reviewer said and I have a whole cavalcade of evidence to showcase just that he was actually a really good king he did his duty to the country in times of peril and really hasn't got the recognition that he deserves everyone likes to judge him by a few personal issues and not by what he did for the country which was a great deal, Bertie didn't learn to be King directly it wasn't like he was ever destined to be King until his brother abdicated but if you want to find evidence for any inspiration on how he learned how to be King then George V is your best bet, you could safely say that Bertie learned how to be King from his father because George V may not have succeed in his role as a father he wasn't terrible by any stretch of imagination but he wasn't perfect but he was a perfect King and a pretty good grandfather as well . In regards to David he would have never treated Bertie in that way, this is the one thing about the King's Speech that annoys me when there is so much evidence to show that Bertie and David got on really well and actually Bertie looked up to him there was none of this oh I'm Prince of Wales I'm going to be king actually David was actually terrified at the prospect of being King. Also there's no evidence to show that John had any idea that he was ill and actually he was a pretty naughty boy who would go around playing pranks on unsuspecting victims, he was treated like a normal person by his parents there was no evidence to suggest that they ever mollycoddled him. Also Sardines was the nickname for David, Berties nickname was Johnson. Despite all this it was beautifully written.
RichardIII1955 chapter 1 . 12/30/2012
Please continue! This is very interesting! There are not many fanfics about Johnny or the royal children of George V around here, and it's so nice to finally be able to actually read one for once :-D
Paranoid Emo Ranger chapter 1 . 4/4/2011
Duke of Fenwick...well, it's been said that she was closer to David than to Albert, probably one of the reasons why he was never close to any of them because of his stammer and when Bertie became King she visited David and Wallis often. Sad really that he wasn't close to any of his siblings, but he did have a very supportive wife so it's not really sad! :)
the Duke of Fenwick chapter 1 . 4/4/2011
Interesting story here. I am a little surprised that Mary would act that way. I would've thought she'd be a little more supportive of her brother, Albert than her brother Davy who's like 1900's version of Mick Jagger.

Yet another reason to dislike King George V "the Coward"

Keep up the good work.
