Originally, was puzzled by the title. In Lancer Fan Fiction, Catherine and Marie are depicted, almost as polar opposites. Different in almost every way: appearance, geographical location, temperament, background, language, religion, etc. Wives, yes. But, sisters?
But as you story, adroitly shows, both really were, as your title suggests.
Both had to face similar battles, for their place in the sun. What was a real eye opener, about your story, is just how paradoxical were those struggles. Catherine, a stranger in a strange land, dealing with the culture of
Original California. Marie, likewise, a stranger in a strange land, dealing with the culture of the new California.
Lancer, is full of such contradictions. But it is just in these conflicts of opposites, that enables, a true learning experience to take place. This is a brilliant show case to
prove, these two wives, really were, "Sisters Under The Skin".

This was a very interesting and enlightening story. I liked how Catherine had to fit in with the original Californians and Maria had to fit in with the gringos. Very well done. Thank you.
