This was a really lovely little piece! I'm going through all the HP one-shots you've written, and so far all have put some kind of a smile, be it sad or amused, on my face. Really enjoying your writing, and can't wait to get started on your Loki stuff :)

I was really struck by the Snape section.
Has my wanting to work on the Snape/Lily work I have somewhere, actually...
I really like this one.

This is beautiful.

I really enjoyed this - that line in DH was so beautiful, and I'm so glad you took it and ran with it. The outcome is really wonderful.

I've always loved that line in DH about the abandoned boys that finally found a home at Hogwarts. This was fantastic and touching. I wanted to be sorry for Tom Riddle but the little creep trying to get a heads up on his spell work creeped me out. Evil little git!

Well written and good characterisation. Yes, Hogwarts is those boys one true home and it's just sad that Tom was already too damaged to turn back to the light when he got there.
We all know that Severus had a horrible homelife, not unlike Harry's. Sadly Snape's dream of always being with Lily was not to be, at least not in this lif. But he did at least rise above his bad start and many mistakes to become a hero.
As to Harry, well, he's 'Just Harry' the modest hero. He's the one who perhaps gained most benefit from his time at Hogwarts as he found not just a true home at last, but loyal and loving friends.
Enjoyed it a lot, thanks.

This was a pretty neat oneshot. It's ironic how three completely different people (Tom, Severus, and Harry) were in similar situations when they first came to Hogwarts-it became a real home to them. I felt bad for poor ole Severus Snape because in the end, I knew what was going to happen to his and Lily's relationship.
All in all, I enjoyed reading this and say you did a marvelous job writing this up. I have a feeling that I'm going to get hooked to your writing soon. :)

So much alike.

Love it! Tom and Snape are two of my favorite characters, so I just ate this right up. The way you depicted young Tom Ridde, as a pretty normal kid, was somewhat heartbreaking because, to me, it seems really close to truth. And the fact that at one point he wasn't the way he ends up is really quite sad. But, anyways, you did an amazing job with this one! The similarities between these three just always make me smile... :)

its so bizarre how much they have in common
| waterflower20 chapter 1 . 5/1/2011
They were so similar in some ways, weren't they?
| xXxMartelxXx chapter 1 . 4/30/2011
Words don't do justice to how beautiful and perfect this was. The writing was top notch, the characterizations frighteningly spot on, and the atmosphere and emotions palpable. This story made me want to cry but strangely the tears never came. Ah, I guess I shouldn't be up so late reading fanfiction, anyway; it makes the mind go all weird.
What an apt title, "The Abandoned Boys".

Lovely. Just adorable.
I love seeing it all from their perspectives, and you really grasp the characters D
| deeps chapter 1 . 4/28/2011
that was a nice compilation of three different wizards who would play important roles in the war to come. all attached with one string of being abandoned
