Better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all...
I hate that saying, but only because I always think it makes love into an all or knowing sort of thing, which it rarely is.
But, I find it particularly appropos when it comes to fanfiction. I often read, my intrepid heart worried about the months that has passed since the last update, but it looks good.
And as the case may be, this is superlative, even when I read it so long ago, I knew I may never get that sweet sigh only the last chapter of a great story can bring: sorry it has ending, but so worth it.
There is nothing like fics that you love, and have become lost. Like falling in love with a soldier going overseas, or a summer love going to a college far, far away: you have to appreciate the time given, and know their life owes you nothing but what they shared with you, and that however brief, and ultimately unfinished, it was worth it.
So, despite so many great fics being finished, I cannot regret reading this story again. I have found that some fics, even completed ones, have lost their heart-shine over time. I guess in the beginning I was willing to overlook a lot of sins, given the rush of excitement in discovering all these cool and bridled writers, so much daring and raw talent.
But over time, and being thoroughly spoiled by greatness given freely, I have come to rethink what I once adored. I now look askance at pothole cliches, pointless angst, or asinine sex. Like a bad romance, I wonder what I saw in it at all to begin with.
But ... not so with this murmuring river of a love story. It positively glows.
I know, I know, I must be mad to read it again, knowing that there is no ending, but ... you're still worth it. Maybe ...one day... an email will come.
Some say that it's never too late when it comes to love, but then it must be undoubtedly true for a great story. We just pick up where we left off, and it's like time has passed at all.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! This is one of the best FanFic stories I have ever read, I'm so sad it's not complete! But this is truly an amazing story, so well written and the interaction between them had me fanning myself! Whew!
