Lili chapter 1 . 3/26/2023 There are very interesting parallels. Here they are very young, not burdened with duties, except for lessons - but here they are the two most powerful magicians, who are burdened with worries and anxieties about the well-being of the Guild and with their understatements, which almost stood between them as a wall. It seems close, but at the same time far apart. Lorlen's question about the murders, Akkarin's silence... This weighs heavily on the two of them and it seems that there is no way out (although a conversation would be enough). But alas ... Although this story does not spoil, but rather makes it interesting. |
Guest chapter 1 . 10/11/2020 Awesome story, really i just read this fanfic again after some years and I have to say - awesome word building and characterization, one of the best works I’ve read so far! :) |
MinniMuffin chapter 1 . 3/21/2016 Aw my heart hurts for those two ;w; Amazing fic! I love the fact that you put them on the rooftop. I like that place |
Stelra Etnae chapter 1 . 8/27/2012 I like the parallel you drew of the carefree young novices they were and the men they became, with responsibilities. The contrast, even more striking because of the unchanged setting, makes the second scene more intense. This is a really good story! Great work! |
truthfulbadger chapter 1 . 12/18/2011 your story is a really nice one. its got humour and its got the right amount of seriousness. i really like it. keep writing. -ginny |
Ryo Nightray chapter 1 . 12/3/2011 Wow, this is a splendid fic! Very beautifully written, and I love the contrast of the past and the present. :) |
Ayleim chapter 1 . 10/23/2011 I really like the interactions between Akkarin and Lorlen - nice to see some standard youthful mischief since Sonea obviously didn't really indulge. I have a slightly off-topic question - I noticed on the list of your stories that you have a Akkarin/Takan story in.. Polish, according to Google translate? And thanks to that same application, I *think* I got the gist of it, but I'm really wondering whether you'll ever be doing an English translation of it? Pwetty pwease? :P |
AnotherStupidNickname chapter 1 . 10/21/2011 I really liked the second part and the contrast to the first one - very deep and sad. I also enjoyed the little philosophical bit about Lorlen feeling like the center of Kyralia (or was it Imardin?) when standing on the roof; it shows that you really thought about the character not only in terms of his relationship to Akkarin, but also about him as a person, and as a Guild magician. Personally, I found the dialogue in the first part a bit unimaginative, I think you could have done better. - ASN |
DreamyLane chapter 1 . 9/12/2011 An awesome one shot. The contrast was brilliant and both Lorlen and Akkarin were pretty in character. :3 I love the bond of friendship between these two. It was really sad to see this bond being stretched to its limit in The Novice. They did resolve the misunderstanding and all in the end, but... well.. Anyways. This is a really lovely fic. I love those about Lorlen and Akkarin, especially the ones which depicts their school days 0b |
Rilawa chapter 1 . 7/22/2011 You did an awesome job. The contrast between the novices and the magicians was great. I can't believe Akkarin was that same funloving kid. |
HeadlessHedwig chapter 1 . 7/1/2011 Having read your first fic i decided to read the next one as well! Yes, yes they are pretty messed up ... i think that is an understatement! I love the contrast here, very well written and very effective. I like your explanation of the roof and how that becomes significant... it has remained the same but changed in subtle ways (far too many people have access to it now). It mirrors their friendship and how, on the outside they remain friends as not to raise suspicion, but on the inside the pair of them are total wrecks and completely transformed from the care-free boys they were. Hope that made sense! Keep it up! Emily |
Jaycest chapter 1 . 6/28/2011 Love this! I liked the stark contrast of the depth of their friendship between now and then. Both Lorlen and Akkarin are very much IC and I very much enjoy your style of writing! |
