| Fan chapter 4 . 11/3/2012
Finally caught up with all the chapters thus far. So here's the rundown.
Again, the theme was very clear and realistic. I've noticed that you tend to go with different themes every chapter that match the characters and the goals they wish to achieve and the needs that they require. It makes the ending all the more accomplishing, and the read is certainly enjoyable along the way.
The Swan Mistress. Very likeable, tough, and encouraging to our protagonist. It was fun to read whatever she had to say, as well as insightful. I hope to see more of this character real soon, she's someone that I could make friends with.
Uplifting ending. I'm always one for a good ending. While you last few have had that, they've always felt that the story isn't over and the characters will continuing to develop. This one feels like a true ending, because you just get the feeling she has got (or will get) what she's set herself to achieve, and that's her want and need wrapped in one.
Would liked to have seen more. This is the shortest chapter thus far, and it just felt like there could have been more of a story to tell. We could have seen more of Arianna or Swan Mistress, or even both. It isn't a major criticism, more just a personal opinion. I've grown fond of your longer, character driven stories. While this had a good deal of character development in it, I just felt there could have been more.
So that's it with these one shots. I have a feeling there will be more soon, and now it's just Omega Kid I need to catch up on.
My score - 3.5/5

On with the next chapter. So here's the rundown.
You have got a really relatable and memorable character in Diandra. She has just suffered something so life changing and harrowing, it's almost unthinkable, but she's found something to help her in real-life superheroes. Despite her struggles with one arm, she's determined to make something of herself. She was in a poor state before, and although losing an arm would bring most people further down, which it almost did for her, she's come back strong until that revelation at the end.
Omega Kid and Scarlett. It was unexpected to see Debbie in this chapter, especially playing such an important role. You've had cameos from other known characters before, but here she's in the mix. And looking back I realise the hints you left in Scarlett about her past and experience knowing about real-life superheroes. Maybe this was another stepping stone to helping her become Scarlett, so really the two friends helped each other. And then that hint at the end of Omega Kid, she must play a role in that fic, I would like to see more of her, especially in a main story.
Writing style. Yet again, you offer something different and yet what we already love rolled into one. It's slightly darker then the pervious chapters, with dark subjects such as disabilities, suicide and violent masculinity over femininity. It fitted well with the story, and it didn't become too forced, it was worked well.
Twist. You threw me for a loop with what happened with Diandra, losing her memory was something I didn't see coming. It just adds to the dire tone, just when she seemed to find something that kept her strength growing, even in the bad situation she was in, it was thrown away from her like that. And by a mysterious character. I'm interested to see just what is the deal with this Plague Doctor character. You always tend to mix about characters in your stories, so he must be featured more soon.
Nothing to note. It was on par with the first chapter, equally exceptional.
My score - 5/5

On to the next chapter now. So here's the run down.
This chapter has a great writing style going for it. It's from a 3rd person perspective, yet you really get a sense of what the character is thinking and have a great deal of development from him. It's different from the previous chapter, similar in some parts, and that adds to it. It's from a different person and so should feel different, and you've done that well without having to change too much.
Doctor Gravity cameo. It's always neat to have a cameo from a well-established character. And while he may not be the most well known, he is a respected figure in the fandom for his role in Kick-Ass 2. It was nice to see him play a part in this chapter and help the character out.
Good Samaritan. I can tell that this story is inspired by the story of the Good Samaritan. Nearly like for like if you read the two stories together, and that is something that really emphasises the moral of this chapter. A hero can come from anywhere, as well as a villain.
No fight scene. I know this isn't a major criticism, but more just something I want to say. I've already grown fond of your excellently written fight and action scenes, so having a chapter where that wasn't any, especially where it could have been added just made the chapter feel a bit lacking. But it's nothing serious, just my own personal vendetta.
So not quite as strong as the first story, but that was brilliant and so it would have been hard to follow up on, but this is still a very good chapter.
My score - 4/5

Since this work has a different story for every chapter, I'll be leaving a review for each chapter thus far. So here's the run down.
The characters here are very well made and expertly written. This has to be one of the best portrayals of Mindy I've seen in a Fanfiction so far. Tortured and in pain, while trying to hide it and keep her tough girl image. She's still young, and hasn't quite learnt to learn, she is going to make mistakes, she needs to learn to improve herself. She's thinking that she is growing stronger, but she couldn't unless she accepted there are some things even she can't save.
The fight. Your reputation as a true action writer is very correct. Tense, thrilling, and powerful. Descriptive and fast paced, detailed and emotional. Hex is a very strong character, and we all know Hit Girl is as well, but she was clearly out matched, yet she went on and on. It was amazing to read, yet painful to imagine from the perspective of Hit Girl. Brilliance.
Theme. Something that is extremely rare in Fanfiction stories is a real moral or theme that goes on for the character. For Mindy, it's that fear of something bad happening in her life, and that she might not be able to stop it. It's a very real feeling that we all have, and you captured it superbly in her character.
Hex and Supreme Hero. I am curious as to who Hex is, and just what is a Supreme hero? You've given little snippets and details, and they've intrigued me into wanting to learn more. Hopefully you'll be explaining it more within one of these chapters.
I'm noting finding anything that is out of place in this chapter. Very few tensing mistakes that you've made before, I can tell that you've grown and developed as a writer since you've first started.
My score - 5/5

Wow this was a really good chapter. Soo..graphic, just like the film. I got the sense that I was watching scenes from the movie. When the action started I could see it in my mind as though it was a proper choreographed fighting scene. I felt sorry for Mindy. She's still only young and losing her dad hurts more than she lets on to others. I love how she still holds herself well in the school, though she shouldn't kick ass like she does (she might kill them accidentally because she's too good) lol, but I thought you captured her character well! Awesome chapter Tommy :3

Awww, i really love this chapter. i really feel for Arianna and know what she goes through, not exactly but enough to know. did she win or not? she has to, she deserves it after a hard life. love this!
| Girl Team Rules chapter 3 . 1/5/2012
another one for me? seriously you're too kind :) thank you!
this was such an amazing chapter, oh i feel so sorry for diandra now knowing what she's been through and wow can't believe those two were best mates before! so cool how you've fitted your two fics in. i want to give this old plague doctor or whatever he is a good smack round the side, but i will just let the superheroes deal with that. love this, love ya, bye for now!
| Mindless Violence Fan chapter 1 . 6/28/2011
I really enjoyed this fic.
Mindy would be the type to carry a grudge and blame herself for Big Daddy's death. She was trained to be the best and until almost being defeated by D'Amico (first by being out of ammo and pinned down by his thugs; then by D'Amico himself - exhausted and out of options, she was physically beaten and within seconds of being murdered.)
So, one year later, she's obsessed. Only in the way that Hit-Girl would understand, she had to understand that she did the best she could at the time. Even if it meant receiving the worst beating she's ever received, beaten to the point she couldn't fight anymore.
At least she isn't emotionally broken by her beating, she now realizes she's a young girl who has a lot of growing-up and maturing ahead of her. Is Hit-Girl gone? I hope not - the world needs a vigilante who can do the things that Kick-Ass can't do, and that's to kill when necessary. Kick-Ass and other vigilantes haven't been trained as well as her and she is the trained assassin of the NYC vigilantes. Besides, she will never be able to truely rest until Red Mist's head is mounted on her bedside table.
