Where angels fear to tread...

The description in this chapter is brilliant, a wonderfully detailed narrative about something we know so little about. I especially liked how you alluded to ancient fears and half-forgotten myths; it made it almost familiar in a way.

Vulcan does not have a moon or moons.

I like the details you're showing us here. It makes it very easy to visualise the whole scene and I almost feel as if I watched the explosion. Phlox playing basketball is a bit mind boggling though. I especially liked his comment about being fully clothed - hilarious, and I can just imagine John Billingsley saying that dead-pan. :)

I haven't worked out where Trip and T'Pol are in relation to each other and I'm looking forward to learning that in later chapters. Excellent start to the story, thanks!
