Sorry this slipped past my email. Very poignant chapter. Some of your best work is when Chuck and Sarah have their quiet moments. Great chapter.

Wow, I can't tell you how pleased I was to get an update to this one. I've been waiting for it for a very long time. Loved how Chuck could tell the difference between Brutus and the fake Sarah Walker. The shared betrayal from the douchebag Larkin was a great addition in that the NSA really was much harsher on both Chuck and Sarah because of their connection to their betrayer.
What was also interesting is how Sarah felt the need to be open with Chuck even though he was asleep at least in her mind. Sure maybe its part of her coming to terms with her betrayal and she sees an innocent caught up in something he never asked for or deserved but got stabbed in the back by the same man who betrayed her. But it is a much more open Sarah than in canon at this point in their story. I like that. It's interesting that she talked about Bryce getting to her as one of the reasons she got sloppy yet it seems Chuck is getting to her as well. I wonder how that will play out.
Really interesting cliffy with the return of the db responsible for all of it. Just don't take over a year to post the next one please.

I'm totally digging the story. I think the feds tipped their hand too soon (I know... they had to, to move the story along) about listening into Chuck and Sarah's conversations. I think Sarah would have considered the potential for the cells being bugged but she was a little dense about that in cannon too. Not a criticism, just a thought as I said I like the story and it's unique perspective.
