Reviews for A Harry Situation |

Lileealina chapter 18 . 5/23/2003 Another wonderful chapter! The way that you portrayed Ginny's reaction to Nicely was appropriate and very believable. It shows how she hasn't gotten over her experience entirely, and how it will always affect her somewhat, (not to mention that she was worried about Harry and Ron...) though she have overreacted just a tiny little bit. When Ginny said that Riddle’s diary turned her into a Parseltongue, did she just mean the time when she was under its control, or did it last longer? When is Ginny going to learn about Sirius? Will it be in this story or the next one? Will someone sit down and tell her, or will she find out because someone slipped and mentioned him in front her? Hermione’s take on how Harry has “that whole nine lives business down pat” was quite amusing and observant (typical Hermione), even if she was distracted. When Harry turned into a cat again, why didn’t he come out? Was it because he was afraid, and if he was, what of? After all, since Animagi can think clearly while in their animal forms, Harry would have known that no one was going to hurt him, right? It would have been interesting for someone to come in and find the three of them trying to get a cat out from under the bed, and with Harry nowhere in sight. That would have required a lot of explaining to do. Why did Moody forgive Sirius so easily? Didn’t he think that Sirius was a “deranged killer”? Ginny seems to really distrust Nicely, doesn’t she? I’ve been wondering how Harry knew when his birthday was. The way Ron is starting to see Hermione is very amusing…”Ron thought that magenta was a very good color on her.” So there’s more to the trunk than meets the eye, hmm? The secret compartment was very clever, and it makes use of the “fake latch”. I wonder how Lily’s wand got broken, was the trunk just moved around a lot? How can you make a wand perform magic on its own, or did Lily put some sort of spell on it? Is there something about that ring, or did you just put it in there for effect? What is a carnelian? Can Mr. Ollivander fix the wand? If he can, what will it be used for? When you wrote “It was not spelled the way he would had thought”, the had should have been a have or the would should have been taken out. What did Hermione do? (Does it have anything to do with the fact that you mentioned something about Hermione’s gaze resembling a basilisk’s?) Could you please email me when you update? |
Alla chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 Oh, My G-d... Laughing, still laughing, taking deep breath and it does not seem to help much. :o) Anyway, studying for PROWLS was absolutely priceless. Everything about it. Ron's response to Hermione's excitement about library "she'll be getting sick every summer..." Hee! Hermione sending everybody to the library several times... Harry learning what to do in order to escape unwanted chores... :o) Very nice. I like your Pancy and Milicent more and more... Loved party for Harry. Poor child still can't believe that so many people actually love him... He! Loved fountain puzzle and Molly not drying up George. :) Thank you! Alla |
alla chapter 18 . 5/23/2003 Hi! I hope you know by now that I am in love with this story, but after reading this chapter I have absolutely no choice , but to call you "evil, very evil person" :o) I think when I will be reading OOP, I will be adding "Hoot, said Ron" into every piece of dialogue between the trio. This line is stuck with me forever. Loved it. Absolutely loved Remus' "He prefers fried chicken" responce to Moody. So, you decided to go with Bill as DADA teacher? Good choice :) I was a little uneasy with Ginny's reactions to Nicely. Let me try and explain. Yes, it makes perfect sense that after being severely traumatised by Riddle's diary, Ginny will despise all thinking books for a long time to come and being a Gryff, she will confront her fears, but at the same time I as a reader know that this particular book was created in the spirit of fun, mischief, friendship... I don't know. It just felt that Ginny was attacking spirits of marauders ... Of course it only shows that she is so very human. Loved Harry's "If I fail, I can always write my life story" and Ron's "it will be boring" he! Thank you! Alla |
AerinBrown chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 This chapter was an excellent one! The humor that you have in here is great; really realistic, very subtle, and quite hilarious. I so enjoy reading this! Please keep writing! |
Eris Queen of the Shadows chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 Ack! You post another chapter before I get a chance to review the last one! Oh well, you will be getting two reviews in one. So feel special. Chapter 18: Very funny with Ginny going into protective mode. If anyone has a right to be mad at a book with a brain it's her. ::shivers at what she went through with Riddle:: Nice come back with Nicely. I loved the bloody book comment. And it was intresting with Hermione setting Nicely on fire. Although I have a sneaking supision it really wasn't her fault. Chapter19: Poor Harry, it's his birthday and he gets sprade with water. I thought it was nice at first to let everyone to let Harry finish the puzzle...but you proved me wrong. I also like the fact that you have Pansy's father be actually a half way decent guy. And I am digging the fact that Harry is getting more and more of a crush on Ginny. Can't wait to see those two hook up. Anyway, that's all the review for now. Keep up the good work and get the next chapter out soon. |
amulder chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 Hi! Don't have time for a long detailed review. So I'll just start by saying "Kudos!" and "Thanks!" It is interesting to see Pansy and Millicent being, well, tolerable! But I can't help wondering how that will play out once the school year starts. However I do agree that not all Slytherins are evil. After all, no one believes that 25% of all wizards are evil, do they? I wasn't keeping track, just *how* tall is the mountain of Chocolate Frogs that Harry has received? Somehow I knew that you were going to have Ginny be the one who passed a PROWL, as soon as she entered that scene. It's just hilarious that it is D.A.D.A, which is one that Harry and Co. should be much better at! Your beta is going to nail you on all the "snickering" going on, just like I was. Apparently in Britain they "Snigger". Congratulations on Fred and Geo's present. Now, you just have to figure out a way to get Harry to actually *wear* those hideous robes. Perhaps at Halloween? So what is the secret of the chess board? Hmm, so you're going to continue this A/U? How about a growth spurt for Harry. Not much, just enough that oh a certain hand-me-down cloak from his father would now fit him? Well, enough then. thanks for sharing. |
GunSmoke2 chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 An excellent chapter old boy! Can't wait for the rest. |
Angel of the North chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 Very long chapter - I loved the rivalries going on, though I'm starting to find Ron a bit repetitive with the colours, and it breaks the flow up a bit. Really cool though. Especially Tiberias and Nicely. Why haven't they asked Nicely to help with the PROWLs (and are the PROWLs simply a way for Slyths to distract the Gryffs?) |
Rhiain chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 That was great... i cant wait for more! :) |
Bob chapter 19 . 5/23/2003 I sit here writing this review at an ungodly hour of the morning, giggling silently to myself so as not to wake my family up and feeling very pleased with myself that I decided to look at your author page before I went to bed. About the PROWLs, until you say otherwise, I'm going to believe that the questions in them are actually taken from the NEWTs just so they could get the students nice and panicked. And then when the real tests come around, everyone says, "Oh, these are so EASY." Muggle snapdragons are dangerous. If you run through your mother's prized bed of them while playing a game of catch in the backyard that is. Go on with A Sirius Situation like you were going to and damn the AU. I like AUs if they are well written. Whenever Ozma has a new chapter or story in her Squib series up, I bounce around like a six year old who has just eaten a pound of cotton candy. Harry shouldn't find it that hard to ACT like a spoiled celebrity. All he needs to do is start doing an impersonation of Dudley, throw in some Draco Malfoy and he'll have it. Of course, he would find it nearly impossible to BE a spoiled celebrity, but that's a completely different arguement. It's nice to see that Harry has learned the value of the tactical retreat. And being 'sick' is helping him immensely in them. Harry could, of course, try asking another, more experienced, ghost about writing to dead people and getting replies. Moaning Myrtle and Nearly Headless Nick both like him and Nick even actually does correspond with people. The Headless Hunt has been sending him rejection letters for centuries now. |
Galadriel71 chapter 18 . 5/22/2003 dude, i LOVE it when people post long chapters! its the best thing in the world! this- was an AWSOME chapter! i loved it! not really sure what particularly i liked, but the story in itself is so totally really completely COOL! its so well written, and the plot is so calm compared to all those novels written about ways of defeating Voldemort and prophecies and little pathetic tidbits of romance and people dying, etc. its nice and mellow, without being boring, because its extremely humorous, while slightly serious, and surprising, with perfect cliffhangers! its my dream story! heh heh, im always looking for stories like these! i love it, thank you so much for writing this! i cant wait for the last few chapters, and the A Sirius Situation! thanks! |
Roman chapter 1 . 5/22/2003 Another chapter, another surprise. I'm glad Nicely isn't 100 pct. cooperative. Keeps us on our toes a little. Keep turning out chapters. ;) Good stuff. |
KaceyRat chapter 18 . 5/21/2003 more more |
Ozma chapter 18 . 5/21/2003 ACKK! Cliffhanger! I feel like I ought to know what sort of creature can set fires with its eyes, but I can't think of anything. Is Hermione's Animagus form a dragon? A Phoenix? Ah, the joys of suspense... You do cliffhangers SO very well. Here's some more stuff I totally LOVED in this chapter... Ron's 'Hoots.' Adorable! He managed to portray so much emotion. Warrior!Ginny telling the older kids off for not looking before they leap. Warrior!Ginny and her Sleepy Spindle Spike of Doom make a wonderful team! It was impressive that she managed to intimidate Nicely. (Though I like Nicely and hope she's not too badly hurt by whatever Hermione's Animagus form is.) Some More Gems: Conan Doyle being a failed wizard. -Grins- Ron using his brains to find the hidden compartment. -Applauds- Arthur going from worried-about-the-Grim to Warrior!Arthur in a heartbeat. GO, Arthur! The kids all liking how well various colors looked on each other. All the banter between the four kids was great, but this bit was my favorite: Ginny: You're slow today. Harry: I've been sick! LOL! Dumbledore confessing to confusion and doubt. Yes! I always like to see that. He's only human. No one should have to be infallible all the time. Moody, Dumbledore, Sirius and Arthur discussing the probability that Harry had been the twins' backer. Some Really Poignant Stuff I Loved: James' ring. The card Harry wanted to read in private. The ferocity of Ginny's reaction to Nicely... that makes me so proud of her because it speaks volumes about her courage. She not only faces her worst fear, she goes for the THROAT. Sirius thanking Arthur for his kindness to Harry. I'm eagerly awaiting the next chapter! (-Shameless Plug- Speaking of new chapters, I posted a new one of "Squib Apprentice" here on . It's about Filch's first cat.) ( |
