Reviews for A Harry Situation
Alla chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
Finally! :o)

That was literally a perfect chaper and a long one. Thank you! Not that I don't want another long one and soon (and another and some after it :o))

It is hard to find something that i did not love in this chapter.

Harry calling Sirius "Dad"... I was almost crying. I want him to do that in the books... Being nervous about it was so... Harry.

I love your Mrs. Figg more and more with every chapter. I loved how she realised that Sirius lost twelve years of his life unjustly and changed the subject of self-stirring cauldrons just on time. You know, I've never been unjustly imprisoned in my life (actually I never been imprisoned, period. Honestly.:))

Nevertheless, I come from the country where millions have been unjustly imprisoned during seventy years of its existence (former Soviet Union). This is part of the reason, why my heart ached for Sirius since I learned what he went through. I guess it is in my subconscious . :(.

Weasleys were perfect as always and very very funny. Arthur attacking Charly with the napkin, "gack" attacks, Ginny in the attik, Ron with his "chess face" on ( don't get the stories with the stupid Ron at all. Personally I've never met stupid chess player in my life and ron is a very good one as we all know)

I loved Ginny's letter and Harry's reactions. I love how you develop their friendship very slow.

amulder chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
Hello Again Jill.

I know I already reviewed this chapter but I had to add a little bit.

I was stuffing my washing machine tonite, and thinking about Sirius and the "self stirring cauldron" joke, which was hilarious by the way. However I *think* you've written yourself into a corner with a subtle Americanism there.

I happen to have a European clothes washer - from Germany actually - and it is a front loading tumble washer. I believe that all European washing machines are of that style. (I've seen some in british picture books and they are also front-loading) So there is no lid to lift. There is a glass door on the front, which you could look *through* to see the soap and bubbles, but you can't open it once the cycle starts, as it locks.

I agree that it's a minor point, but I know you're posting over on also, and their rabid beta's will quite likely catch you on that one.

thanks again for sharing your wit and skill

Ozma chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
The idea of Dumbledore driving around in that "White Bumblebee" van is too delicious for words! I love the image of him in coveralls too. And the difference between the tools that Hermione sees him using, and the tools that Emma and Rupert see. "How do you float root beer?" Hee!

Of course Hermione had to ask what Dumbledore's embarrasing childhood nickname was... she's so inquisitive. I loved his answer. And the whole conversation with Emma and Rupert. They're a lot of fun.

Speaking of fun, I laughed through the entire "Gack Attack" segment! Charlie's Gack, Ginny hugging everyone in sight, the attack-napkins, Ron's "Gack?" Ron's 'chess face' (Brilliant!) and the punchline, with Charlie's last "Gack" over the soap scum.

"You never won against James." "July 16, 1976." HA! I loved that line and the whole scene with Arabella, Sirius and Harry! I like the way that Harry reacts when Sirius asks him about Ginny. It's good to know that Molly will be taking Harry to St. Mungo's for a checkup. Sirius's reaction to the self-stirring cauldron made me laugh. So did his scared-puppy-wail... I have a feeling about where Harry is.

The bit with Ginny and the ghoul made me choke on my tea. Especially all the wonderful stuff that Ginny found... Cinderella's slipper, Dorothy's shoes (from the book, not the movie)and Aladdin's Lamp. The lamp's message was hilarious. The line about the robe with the "daisies going to seed" made me wonder if the daisies were literally going to seed... with wizard-wear, one never knows. And then that cloak that Ginny found has to go and prove my point!

AW! Harry's a cute green-eyed Abyssinian!

I loved Sirius's answer to Arabella's remark concerning what he thinks about. I loved Harry's thoughts about Arabella knowing the color of his underside.

Oh! Harry wants to call Sirius "DAD!" I LOVE THAT! My eyes teared up and everything! Wow, that was really beautiful. Sirius's reaction and Arabella's were great too.

Atta Girl, Ginny! She kicks cloak-butt! I loved Harry's reactions to Ginny's letter and Ginny's letter too. They're chatting, which is extremely satisfying to see. It's a genuine friendship forming here, not a little girl with a crush on her hero, but equal to equal.

Ron's reaction to the cloaks and spindles made me laugh. "Didn't anybody ever ASK back then?" Hee!

Yeah, Harry doesn't know too many sane adult wizards, does he? Would Percy count? He's an adult...

WoohO! The TRUNK! Harry's sure finding some lovely things. That Christmas memory made my eyes go all teary again. Poor Harry, another spasm. Of course he doesn't want the Dursleys dead. In case of a magical attack against them, I can see Harry protecting them with everything he's got. He's that way.

I love how he doesn't want his relationship with Ginny to get "complicated." That's so cute, and very understandable.

"Berry Sinistra." Do you mean Professor Sinistra? I like the idea of her being Lily's friend. And that telescope really sounds cool! Harry's thoughts regarding Snape's origins cracked me up!

Poor Harry. Cheap tomato soup and diet bread.

"Harry squinted and studied his five month old self and decided his Mum must have loved him very much. There was no other reason she would have defended such a hideous looking creature. Were all babies that ugly or had he been especially deformed?"

That is SO very teenage boy! (My kids have the same reaction when they see their baby pictures.)

Harry's thoughts about his second Christmas are enough to break anyone's heart.

"Potter calling the kettle black." Another great Ron-line! It's sweet the way that each one keeps bits of Harry's letters to themselves.

Ginny looks awesome in that cloak, I'm sure! (I bet Harry will think so when he sees her in it.)

Great Author's notes! (I missed the apple-wood wardrobe.. what a cool touch that was!)

Yes I apreciate your job... Your fic is bloody perfect so I hope that you keep it going for a long time...
SailorChibi chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
Wow, that was cool. It was so nice about how long it was! I'm really liking how you're hinting about Harry maybe liking Ginny. Or love, perhaps...? Oh, well, even if it's not, I thought this was wicked. But out of curiosity, didn't you say in a previous Author's Note Harry's animal wouldn't be found out until A Sirius Situation? Just curious! Fantastic job, update soon!

A. Lee chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
Hip hip hooray! You updated, and it's a long chapter, too. Yay!

This is a really good chapter. I almost cried (tears were leaking out of the corner of my eye) at the part where Harry asks if he can call Sirius dad. That's so swet.

I thought it was amusing that the Weasleys' attic contained so many fairy tale items. (Hunting Cloaks and Sleepy Spindles ... witches and wizards back then must really have wanted husbands and wives).

Harry's foray into the trunk (finally) is cool. I thought giving the cloak to Ginny (through Molly) was sweet, and there ~are~ a lot of secrets in the Weasley household. (Like who Ginny's favorite older brother ~really~ is.)

I enjoyed the story so far and can't wait until you update again. Great story!

hoboswhoraisehell chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
That was long AND enjoyable! And yay! A Sirius Situation? (Whenever I read/hear the word 'situation', I want to say it like "sitch-ee-aye-shun"). I can't wait.
Bob chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
Thank you for finally opening the trunk. A couple of quick questions. Can Harry still speak Parseltounge while he's in cat form? I know that Dumbledore will eventually find out about Leo's identity, but will McGonagall? Will Pixie end up with a crush on that big handsome Abyssinian tom? Has Harry's growth been stunted by years of living in a closet and malnutrition? Does this take place in the same world as Harry Potter and the Bookwyrm? How many licks does it take to get to the center of a tootsie pop?
domino84 chapter 15 . 4/2/2003
One of the reasons i love reading this fic is the details underlying each chapter, and underneath that the humour. Its makes every scene a pleasure to read, and it helps how well your fic flows, and is written.

I think giving Ginny Lily's coat was a brilliant idea. The whole description of the Hunting Coat was a bit confusing till i read Ginny's letter to Harry - and then i have to say what a brilliant interpretation of fairytale items. Have you ever read Artemis Fowl? It has some amazing interpretations of what we consider fairytales.

plus, Harry's reading about Ginny being attacked was beautifully written, complete with the perfect reactions - although i think its about time someone told ginny about sirius already.

I really enjoyed getting such a long chapter to read - always prefer those. You also have some great puns, and your Dumbledore is right on the money...i love how Ron had a 'chess face' and Harry couldn't find one sane wizard to send with the girls.

Can't wait for the next chapter.
