Reviews for A Harry Situation |

![]() ![]() ![]() GREAT! |
![]() ![]() Chapter 14 was out pretty fast, and the "Watch Outs" were a great idea for protection. Will the Grangers have to use them? Daniel Harris-an interesting combination of names for Hermione's uncle. Will there be any more new characters with actors' names? Have you posted A Sirius Situation anywhere, or is it a story you are working on but haven't posted yet? You mentioned a diease (Kirttimukha hemorrhaging, it was called) that Harry's grandmother had, and that Harry seems to have, in Chapter 6. Harry had stomach cramps and white hair, which were two of the symtpoms that you had listed for that disease. You wrote that it was caused by stress, and that it ran in the faamily. You mentioned it in the talk Molly had with Dumbledore. Dumbledore was going arrange for Harry to get a physical. Are you planning on bringing this up again, or did you forget? Anyway, I was just wondering what happened to that. As for the trunk, is there really a spell on it that makes Harry not want to look in it, and if so, will he be able to overcome it before the end of the summer? On a different subject, you accidently spelled watches "watched" when you first mentioned the "Watch Outs". Just thought that you would like to know. I can't wait until Chapter 15 gets out! Keep up the good work! |
![]() ![]() wow all those historic heroes, u must read as much as Mione |
![]() ![]() ![]() very nice fic, I absolutely love it... hope theres lots more soon! |
![]() ![]() Watch Outs, heh, now that's funny! |
![]() ![]() ![]() My god! This is one of the best Harry Potter fics that I have ever read. I would have given you a review on each chapter but I was so caught up in the story that I could not stop reading. This is going on my favorite list and you are going on my favorite author's list. I love the way that you have the interaction between Hermione and her parents. I also like that fact that you kind of paid homage to the actors that play Hermione and Ron in the movie, weither you ment to or not. I also love the fact that you don't have Harry falling head over heals for Ginny in an instant. Alot of fan fics have that and it really bugs me. You are going for the slow love that creeps up on a person and then smacks them up side the head with a frying pan. I can't wait to find out what is going to happen next in you story. So please don't keep me waiting too long. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Whew! I made it to chapter fourteen. The elevator stopped at chapter thirteen, and I got out but nothing was there... Dumbledore's tea with the Grangers was a wonderful mixture of humor and seriousness! (As opposed to 'Siriusnes' which is rarely serious.) I loved the mixture of refreshments at the Grangers' tea, with the mars bars and all. That was quite funny! Some more of my favorite stuff: Dumbledore's real contrition when Hermione pointed out that her presence with the mirror had saved Penelope from the basilisk. Rupert and Emma demonstrating the existence of Muggle Gryffindors. (Bravo, Emma and Rupert!) Hermione's pointing out that Dumbledore used to have red hair when they were discussing her "Boys are Prats" essay. Hermione's and her parents' steadfast wish not to abandon Harry. Wonderful! And Dumbledore mentioned Hypatia! That was so cool! I also enjoyed the discussion of the Grangers' extended family. It's good to know that Dumbledore is looking after all of them to the best of his ability. Those Watch Outs ROCK! (And Harry's a powerful wizard! YES!) Thanks for letting me know about the new chapter! |
![]() ![]() ![]() I loved this chapter as well! Can't wait til the next one! I love the idea of the "Watch Outs" it is rather ingenious might I add! |
![]() ![]() ![]() Twenty chapters? That means the end isn't much further away! I hope you're already planning a sequel! I loved Dumbledore's anecdote about the Floo traffic jam incident it was very funny, especially the mental image I got of him being trailed for days by packs of hungry dogs. I also liked all the sweets and chocolates Hermione had arranged for tea for Dumbledore, although with his sweet tooth I wouldn't be surprised if he wasn't already an expert on Muggle confectionary! The whole meeting between the Granger's and Dumbledore was lovely. I'm glad he had more extreme suggestions for protecting them that involved more than just spells, but it was a relief that none of them were prepared to go into hiding from Voldemort. I also really liked the line about where lions come from - very apt here. The watches were a brilliant idea, (including the name!) especially the fact that they both activated at the same time to give them the best chance of saving at least *one* of them. A frighteningly practical solution to what is a very real possibility. What about protection for Hermione while she's at home though, does Dumbldore have anything in mind for her? Oh, and "Daniel" - good work, now you've got all three of them in the story! Is he named "Harris" after Richard Harris too? Nice to hear about Percy coming up with some ideas to enable Harry to stay at the Burrow - poor thing normally gets written off as an officious fool, which he is a little bit I suppose, but it's unlikely that's all there is to him. I'm interested how the ephemeral guardians would work too, heck, I'm interested in all of it - update soon! As for my procrastination, I know I keep saying the next chapter won't be long, but I really am working on it. The story will definitely be done before book five comes out though, and being as that's so near, it's thankfully spurring me on! |
![]() ![]() Oh, I love, love, love your Dumbledore. I extremely dislike stories, which portray him as master manipulator. I wish writers would at least marked such stories as AU. I think canon does not even imply that Dumbledore is a "grey" kind of leader. I think he is a "white" leader. Even McGonagall tells him that he has the powers that Voldemort has, but is too noble to use them. If I am not mistaken JKR called him "epithome (spelling?) of goodness" in one of her interviews. Master manipulator indeed. Sigh... Sure he has to make choices, but I don't think that he would ever take away from any wizard or witch their right to make the choice which path to follow. Unfortunately, I am also almost sure that he is going to dies soon leaving Harry to face Voldemort without his help. Well, I loved his interplay with Hermione and her parents. "Lions come from other lions..." LOved the image of Dumbledore being stucked in the floor network and smelling like ham. He! Thank you so much! Alla |
![]() ![]() well i just finished reading your story. i don't review a lot, and usually only when i'm caught up. so first off, those poor owls! getting a lot of exorcise, aren't they? i love the letters tho, and the phone call was great. so emma granger's brother is daniel? personally, i like what you did with their names, and their charaters. i was on IM with a friend earlier and i was sending her bits of the conversation between molly and ginny and rupert and hermione. the 'boy are all prats,' essay was also funny. my fave part was prolly poor harry's hair turning white, then there was the whole fraky desise(i'm spelling that wrong, but can't think of the right way, sry, i can't spell) that killed his grandmother, which is looking more and more likely for harry. poor kid, everything does always happen to him. and i think the whole 'he needs hermione as a sister' thing was totally bril. that's what i've always thought anyway, so it was nice see it in print, well type;) this is getting long so i'll just add, an attic room in the summer? total suckage since heat rises. arabelle is funny, sirius is great, and i like pixie as a name for a cat. can't wait for more! |
![]() ![]() Seems I've been treated to two new chapters again. Cool! I like how you handled the subject of danger and death in this chapter - not glossing over it, but leaving reader with hope that survival is possible. Poor Sirius - "I want to keep him". I so want him and Harry to live happily ever after. I have a suspicion that even if Harry decides to sacrifice himself to beat Voldemort, he may survive his own death somehow , but I am not sure about Sirius. Well, if Rowling decides to kill another Marauder, I am hoping it would be Remus. I don't want him to die, but if I were to pick between him and Sirius, I would defnitely pick Sirius. So far Remus is a litle too perfect for my taste. :o) Anyway, please forgive my ramblings. Great chapter as always. Alla |
![]() ![]() AH! am now totally hooked, and CANNOT wait for next chapter to come out. this fic is really moving along and i can't wait to see how it turns out. i've read many fics about harry's fifth year, but yours is the first to focus on the summer and create such a plausible story line. i really hope you update soon. -ro. p.s. as to the missing chapter 13- very cute. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Wonderful! I love the Hermione's dad. |
![]() ![]() ![]() Chapter 13: Haha, reminds me of when I do "P.S., There's NO P.S." Anyway, chapter 14: very clever. |
