Reviews for A Harry Situation
Freak3 chapter 12 . 3/11/2003
I love your idea about wizarding photo's being in black and white (never woulda thunk!). When Harry said "Great, and now the dandelion's are back again." It sounded like some kind of spell that made things. grow on him, so that was kind of od, but other than that it's all good! Keep writing!
Alina chapter 11 . 3/8/2003
Please update soon. The plot is getting thicker. Anyway, won't changing the Dursleys into blast-ended skrewts make them dangerous? I wonder how Harry will repay Sirius for that morning walk? When will Harry look into Lily's trunk? Will it be in the next chapter? I'm glad Harry got the Marauder's Map back. Will he be needing it later on in the year? The Animagus Survival Guide was a great idea. Good luck on the story!
Chary chapter 11 . 3/8/2003
Sorry I'm late with the review, but it was very nice to discover *two* new chapters for me to read! Sirius's appearance was lovely and his teasing and caring is just what Harry needed - he's very good with him. I liked the grouchy Mrs Figg and it was amusing she'd been worried Harry might be a Squib. Hee, I bet Neville wished his uncle Algie had tried boredom to coax out his magical powers instead of dropping him out of a window! Hmm, just a tiny thing there though, when Harry said Mrs Figg was "nutters" he really should have said she's *a* nutter. You'd only use "nutters" if he'd been talking about more than one person. I loved the presents everyone got him and I'm very excited to learn what his Animagus form will be. The map was very sweet, it made me wonder if Harry had ever spent time just talking to it before. I liked Mrs Figg's gift a lot, it was very thoughtful of her in her own grumpy way. As a matter of fact we seem to have been thinking along similar lines there - I've got a scene from the next chapter written with Lois giving Harry underwear as a Christmas gift - I’ve always wondered how he’s managed! It's a bit worrying that Harry's secret gift to Fred and George is starting to cause problems, I hope he tells someone what he's done before anything serious happens. Oh and before I head on to chapter 11, Bonfire Night: It *is* fun, but it actually came about when Guy Fawkes attempted to blow up the Houses of Parliament in 1605. He and his conspirators were caught and executed before they could carry out the plan, but ever since then on 5 November (Bonfire Night or Guy Fawkes Night) his failure is celebrated by people across Britain burning an effigy or ‘Guy’ on bonfires and letting off *tons* of fireworks! Most people go to big organised events or have their own party at home.

The relationship between Ginny and Molly is very sweet and I like how sensible Ginny is in realising the importance of family over money. But the poor thing - loving Harry so much she'd even make herself love his wife if it made him happy. Of course after deciding that, it was very funny when she realised minutes later that she was allowed to be jealous *until* he got married!

It was good to see Sirius did stick around as promised. I loved the line: “What do you want me to do?” Harry asked hastily. The last thing he needed was for his godfather to bite his aunt. He didn’t want Sirius to get food poisoning. Besides, he knew who’d have to clean up the blood." Harry’s humour is just so dry and you always manage to capture that.

Ron’s gesture was lovely and it was very sensible - for him! I was worried he was going to go off half-cocked again and upset Hermione, but if he *had* agreed to go on holiday with her, I think he was right to realise he would have very likely only upset her more. I’m always pleased when I read stories where Ron isn’t made to be an ungrateful idiot, because I don’t think he is. I can understand how it would be difficult being best friends with someone as famous as Harry and as brilliant as Hermione, especially someone as ruled by their emotions as Ron is. You write him well. As always, I can’t wait for more!

This is a great story. I really really enjoyed it. I did not stop reading all 11 chapters in one go. Please do not under any circumstances leave this hanging. Please complete this.
Lourdes chapter 2 . 3/5/2003
It is comforting to know that both Hedwig and HP have a sarcastic dry sense of humour to rival Snape. You are not English, are you?
tabula rasa2 chapter 11 . 3/5/2003
It's stories like these that make me realize why I love fanfiction so much - if done well (and this story is so beyond "done well", it's laughable. *g*), it gives a whole new dimension to the canon experience. It's about the certain little human touches that we miss out on in canon, simply because JKR probably can't allow herself to focus on them and, well, she is limited to just Harry's POV - it makes me want to cry when I realize we'll most probably never get to see all those nice, heartwarming scenes such as the conversations between Harry and Sirius, Hermione and her parents, Ginny and her Mum or the sibling bonding of the Weasley children and even the phone conversation between Harry and Hermione in the actual books, so I'm beyond glad to see a brilliant author such as you take up all those loose threads and hand them to us bit by bit like the precious gems they are. So keep up the excellent work - I'm more than happy to read every single new chapter! :)
Bob chapter 11 . 3/4/2003
Another excellent chapter. I know that Harry's snake rope is just a rope, but could he control it using parseltounge? You really do need to get to the investigation of the trunk. Also, if you are taking suggestions for people's animagus forms, can I ask that Ron's be a fish? I'm just picturing the look on his face when he finds out his form is almost completely useless.
Lilia3 chapter 11 . 3/3/2003
Emma and Rupert? Nice! It is probobly the best names for Hermione's parents that i have seen, ever! I have really enjoyed your fic, and I hope that you update soon, even though you just did. I just found your fic today! Keep up the good work. I was dying of laughter during the Granger/Dursley phone chapter. An ab fab job really.

Three Sickles Short chapter 11 . 3/3/2003
Wow! You snuck two chapters in on me. I must be slacking off on my compulsive checks of ff.n.

Ch. 10:

Cole's ward . smells like cabbage . hee hee hee hee hee! That's just hysterical.

I *loved* the progression of Sirius's thoughts about the Dursleys.

My poor baby Harry, wondering if his parents would have liked him. Somebody give him a hug, please.

Ch 11:

Harry not wanting Padfoot to bite Petunia because he'd have to clean up the blood-*that's* my Harry. :-)

What a nice letter from Ron to Hermione; he's such a sweetie when he wants to be.

Now, don't go thinking that your readers are going to forget about that trunk!
Alla chapter 11 . 3/3/2003
You do know a lot about human nature at your advanced age. :o)

MOlly and Ginny were fantastic. I think every mom would be a litle upset seeing their little girls growing up so fast.

Ron really was being sweet. :)

Alla chapter 10 . 3/3/2003
Two new chapters (does a happy dance :o)).

The whole Sirius and Harry interaction made me both happy and sad. I keep hoping that RRowling lets them both live at the end, but somehow I doubt it. I can still hope though. :o)

He! Sirius teaching Harry anything would be a lot of fun, I imagine.

Loved your portrayal of Arabella Figg. Glad you did not go for the cliche theory (smell of cabbage polyjuice potion Arabells is really rather young lady in disguisee, who could be Snape's future or past love :o))

Perri Smith chapter 11 . 3/3/2003
Every time I go back to reread this story, I love it more. The conversations between the characters are absolutely natural; I feel as if I can hear the voices in my head. I paticularly love the dialogues between Ron and Ginny; given how little we see Ginny in the books, it's a delight to hear her and Ron acting as siblings. And Sirius and Harry together are, of course, just wonderful.

Stayed late at work to finish reading this chapter, which should tell you how eager I am for the next. Outstanding.
