I like the pun in the title. Sirius's presence comforts Harry. "Comforting Presence." Nice! I didn't figure out that the one who'd grabbed Harry was Sirius, but in retrospect, I should have. Aww, you used Minerva's nickname for Sirius as Sirius's nickname for Harry. that's cute!

Wow, when Sirius started talking about baby Harry drooling on him my eyes started tearing up. It was so easy to picture. Teething babies produce amounts of drool that can stagger the mind. Babies see trusted adults as large, mobile handerkerchiefs. Not to mention repositories for items that they're tired of toddling around with, but may want back again later. ("ooh, a piece of chewed up toast. Yes, I'll be glad to hold that for you.")

I love Sirius and Harry together. I love their bantering. I love your Mrs. Figg. (She's either a Ravenclaw or a Slytherin, I'm guessing.) So, the cat-pictures were TESTS? She's brilliant. You can bore a young wizard into showing their magic? (Poor Neville, I wish that someone had told his great-uncle Algie about that.) Her words to Harry were harsh, but somehow the effect doesn't make her seem unlikable. It serves to illustrate, as Sirius says "that she's been through a lot on Harry's behalf."

I LOVE Sirius's reactions when he's figuring out all the ways that the Dursleys have hurt Harry's self-esteem.

Ah! Harry feels protective when Mrs. Figg says that Ginny has a talent for getting into trouble. GRINS.

The heart-to-heart between Harry and Sirius made me cry again. Sirius's words about grief not getting better, just getting buried were so true. I loved the way that Sirius turned the talk to girls. He's matchmaking, that's so cute! So was Harry's reaction to his cake & candles. aww, he's such a sweetie. (And the candles that race around the cake trying not to be blown out- what an INSPIRED IDEA!)

Sirius's words about Lily not "saving anything that she considered rubbish" made me think of Petunia. She must have seen something in her sister that was worth holding on to. Though I doubt that Sirius was thinking of Petunia when he said that.

I laughed when Harry told Sirius "if his hints got any broader they wouldn't fit in the room." Funny! Each of the gifts was lovely in its unique way. Hagrid's snake-rope is such an utterly cool idea. "I could tie people up with it." That boy is such a Marauder.

Oh, it makes sense that the source of Fred and George's mysterious wealth is causing concern. I Is Sirius investigating the twins? Poor Harry.

Oh, I love the idea of the Trio studying to become Animagi! Do you have eventual forms in mind for them? You don't have to give it away, so you can just say "yes." I want to be surprised.

You have a sequel planned! I like the sound of "A Sirius Situation."

I do like the Grangers. I'm wondering if Sirius could slip into the attic somehow - there's a tree in the garden, and he is one of the original pranksters, and therefore would find climbing a tree rather easy.

The pup is cool - I'm surprised Mr Padfoot didn't use that. Did Sirius adapt the map in order to get their 'voices' out? I always suspected that Remus used the magical signatures so that it would insult Snape if it got into his hands at school.

loved the new chapter. great presents, the snake rope sounds like it'll come in great use later on in the story. also the muggle book from remus that lily gave him is a sweet :) idea. really enjoyed looking forward to more
