What a beautiful, fantastic story! Three things really stand out about it:

First, the connections you draw to other series. I like that you brought up Amanda from TNG, and explained how her situation was different from Q Junior's. And Q Junior is Trelane? It make so much sense! This is absolutely my new head canon!

Second, the descriptions of life as a Q. I've always been intrigued by the "higher beings" like the Q and post-"Gift" Kes, but struggled with how to represent aliens that no human can understand. You pulled it off wonderfully. I especially loved the part about Q Junior eating stars and planets! Humor aside, it really gave the story a mystical, Greek-God-like feel.

And finally, the brutal honesty of it. I don't have children yet, but I do know that our relationships with our family members are often not as rosy as society expects them to be, including parent-child relationships. Writers, especially in fan-fiction, have a tendency to get carried away with the idea of unconditional love. In your story, Mother Q clearly loves her son, while also clearly harboring a rage and regret towards him that she could never voice in polite company.

Your footnotes are almost as interesting as the story itself. I didn't know there were published stories about Lady Q, and from your description, I'm not sure I want to read them. I find a lot of the novels and stories feel like glorified fan-fiction, getting characters' personalities all wrong, making blatant continuity errors, and presenting ideas that I just can't accept as "true."

Also...Lady Q isn't popular among fans? I was always under the impression that she was one of the most loved guest-stars. She has her own section here on Fanfic. net after all. Well at least you and I are fans of her! :)

my name is zab, and about 5 years ago i gave my infant son up for adoption. this story is so beautifully well written, that i felt suzy-q's pain as deeply as i once felt my own, and it made me weep real tears. such was the strength of your writing in the piece, to have elicited such emotion in me. I dont mean to tell you 'ahhh you made me sob, you terrible person" but as a complement on how you have the gift to truly move the reader with your words.

I like this backstory you created for Lady Q! It does seem to fit into book canon pretty well-I'm assuming you've read I, Q and Q-Squared. I agree with your characterization of her as a warrior goddess, that does make sense. And with our Q being the god of chaos, you can see how q got so bad.

I love your writing. :) It's incredibly detailed, some of the best Star Trek fanfiction I've read. I really liked this one, there were some clever ideas in it.
