I only read Moby Dick once, it is a very powerful story. east Gibbs didn't go by the way of the Captain, he wasn't insane, but he did recognize in the end somethings needed to change or there would be another day of reckoning and maybe the results wouldn't be as good. Not that Tony's being injured is good, but more that he survived yet again, despite all odds. Loved the story, loved your parallels to Moby Dick, I have to say your the first writer in Fanfiction I've come across that delved so deeply into a classic.
And no I didn't know about where the name for Starbucks came from, a fun piece of trivia. I guess the CEO enjoys the classics too. Perhaps you'll do a little Mark Twain or Robert Louis Stevenson in your next NCIS adventure!

I enjoied your story very much. I never read Moby Dick and was amazed at your citations.
There has been a television documentary in experimental archaelogy. They could prove, that a whale (Pottwal) could really sink a big ship if he knew the right point to strike. The wooden frame and planking could not withstand the whale in full stride. There was a whale that has reportedly sank seven tall ships (if I remember right).
As a biologist I am at the side of the whale ofcourse.
