Amazing job! Your Katherine and Stefan are highly sympathetic without pulling any punches. Oddly sandalwood and jasmine is the scent I gave her in a story I just wrote. And Damon and Elena in the bar was HOT!

The writing in this story is fantastic! The detail-shot descriptions make it very easy to picture the story in my mind, but they aren't intrusive to the action.

The scene with Damon/Ric/Jeremy and the map was pitch perfect. What a crisp, well-executed moment!

You definitely just jumped onto my favorite authors list.

This chapter was beautifully written. I love the description of Stefan's new reaction to Elena- how the lust comes forward and the love recedes, but the strength of the reaction is still present. I also love the very vivid, drug like haze he is in. Fantastic job!

Okay, so I'm relatively new to this fandom (in terms of days, not episodes: I've watched three seasons in two weeks like a crazy lady) but it took me a full thirty seconds to be converted to this pairing and its fics like this that remind me why they're the OTP of this show: Bonnie's prophesy that 'this is the beginning' was sparked by Damon, not Stefan. The fact that since the beginning of their acquaintance they've bickered and fought and had at each other with more passion than Stefan and Elena have ever managed. The fact that EVERYONE can see their connection, even Stefan. The fact that each of the past three seasons have ended with Damon and Elena kissing (I include S1 even though its a grey area: Damon thought it was Katherine). The fact that when they look at each other you can't help but think they're right for each other. And this fic has all of those elements and more. What I liked about it wasn't just that it became an ensemble piece, but that at its core wasn't just Elena and Damon, but a normal couple with normal relationships. At its heart, this story was about a girl learning that her first real love has to come to an end, and a guy who's in love with the one girl he can never have and is so used to coming second best he can't envisage a place where she might return his feelings. To be sure, they fight about life and death stuff, but they fight about regular, human stuff too and that's part of what makes their relationships so compelling. Your plot was great, harmonising nicely with S3 but different in an equally plausible way. Your characterisations were spot-on, from Alaric to Bonnie to Stefan and his tragically volatile, destructive relationship with Katherine. And Elena and Damon: what can I say? In the past thirty-three chapters, which I have sat and read in one sitting, you have showed us their joy, their tears, their insecurities both petty and important, their evolution from friends to lovers to fighters to a combination of the three and have done it in a wonderfully compelling way. So thanks :-) Off to read the sequel now!

You, REALLY, need to consider writing as a career if you haven't already. I've always prided myself on believing I was a pretty decent writer, but this...

I don't even have the words to continue on for what I was planning to say.

Whether you continue on with this or something else, i think you need to start writing novels of your own, creating characters of your own and developing them as well as you have in this. If your writing in this is anything to go by, and it should be, you could be an amazing best seller in the future.
