The Avenging Exile chapter 5 . 9/25/2011
What a lovely story. I particularly like the mature, adult love that Rain and Kivan have between them. Rain has grown from her crush and so has he.

My favorite part though was Jaheira. Hmph, elves indeed.
Nastrandir chapter 5 . 9/21/2011
Ah, this is wonderful conclusion :)

For want of a better phrase, I adore Rain's maturity in this chapter, and how she recognises that Kivan's feelings for her are equally 'grown-up'. That acknowledgement is tender and powerful, and I like the idea that their relationship is cemented, moving on perhaps from the first flush, as it were.

It's always lovely seeing Kivan as he should be, and again you depict him so perfectly in the fierce, protective way he loves. Again your tiny details are the ones that linger the most, and I particularly enjoy the notion of the two of them walking barefoot in the moonlight.

A perfect ending, and I do feel that they're very much equal in it. A beautiful story, and thank you for sharing it :)
Morrowsong chapter 5 . 9/19/2011
Wauw, this chapter was great. To see how far they've come and how in love they are now is wonderful. Lovely story.
Lalaithe chapter 4 . 9/18/2011
Rain still seems a bit like a love-struck schoolgirl in the first half, which I suppose she is. In spite of her initial desires a true bond takes time to develop. Perhaps their relationship might not have turned out as strong as it did if Kivan was free. Their banter and the end was nice though.

I really liked her easily letting down her admirer, and showing that not all fellows in a bar are creeps. The same can't be said for Coran though and he's really showing some spiteful teeth here. So presumptuous!
The Avenging Exile chapter 4 . 9/16/2011
Good to see Rain maturing. I like how Kivan admits that he forgets how a friend would react to his blunt statements.

Also, I would like to see Coran knocked down a notch. Never liked that flirtatious Casanova.
Nastrandir chapter 4 . 9/13/2011
So beautifully quietly in some ways, but I think they have both made some rather significant steps here.

Rain's coming-to-terms was wonderfully handled, increasingly mature and characteristic of her at the same time. Her decision to stand strong will not be painless, though, I fear. Kivan I think has grown a little too since he's realised how much his words genuinely hurt her.

And the ribbons themselves, *sigh*, beautifully done. As always you have such a gift for the rendering of small details, particularly colour.
Morrowsong chapter 4 . 9/12/2011
Loved it. I hope to read more soon.
Lalaithe chapter 3 . 9/12/2011
Poor Rain. To someone who is just beginning to explore the world the idea of desiring death must seem completely alien. I suppose there's a touch of jealousy in her reaction too-to her Deheriana is gone, but to Kivan she is very much alive, though no longer flesh and blood. In a way it's just like his wife has moved to another country and he intends to join her. Rain's infatuation here is rather naive as she says.

I liked the descriptions of Kivan's bow and the glances he and Rain shared in the hall. Coran and Ajantis' rivalry is entertaining but I hope it doesn't turn serious. And I just loved the little moment of intimacy between Khalid and Jaheira! So subtle but lovely. Hope to read more soon.
The Avenging Exile chapter 3 . 9/6/2011
This story is coming together nicely. I really like how you describe how having Deheriana's bow affects Kivan. It is also pretty heartbreaking to read about the realization that Kivan plans to die. Rain handles it about as well as I did when I first played the mod.
Nastrandir chapter 3 . 9/5/2011
Oh, they are walking such a tenuous path, Rain and Kivan. There's so much going on under the surface in this one, and so intensely - the beauty of the bow, and Deheriana's memory, and poor Rain, realising that right now Kivan wants nothing more than to move on to Arvanaith.

Other little moments stand out beautifully - Ajantis is coming across as genuinely good-natured, Coran has claws when he wants to. And Khalid and Jaheira together make me smile :D
Zireael07 chapter 3 . 9/5/2011
Good chapter! The short Jaheira/Khalid scene was brilliant, and so was the Arvanaith reference!
Morrowsong chapter 3 . 9/4/2011
Lovely chapter. Very intense at the end. I hope to read more soon.
Lalaithe chapter 2 . 8/26/2011
I'm much enjoying seeing the BG side of Rain and Kivan. Coran outshines our stoic ranger here though-his natural spark really shines through. I like how you pointed out how he was affected by Kivan as well. Coran is true to himself but you portray him as more than just a good-time boy, he has more than one dimension. Your Ajantis seems so sweet, too!

I like how even here Rain knows what she wants. Her attempts to help Kivan settle were sweet and bold in equal measure. As always very lush descriptions here. Hope to see more soon!
Nastrandir chapter 2 . 8/19/2011
Oh, Kivan - again you've really caught how his grief is making him seem as if he's made of glass. Rain realising that he was inches from bolting is tender and painful. She's so gentle with him, beautifully so.

Again it's as much what they *don't* say that echoes strongly - the two of them together, dripping wet and wrung through, such a powerful image.

And surprisingly I really enjoyed Coran in this one. Usually I want to wallop him silly, but here he had layers, and very pointed ones too, that made him far more interesting than 'just' the lecher.

Just lovely, if appropriately grim (if that makes sense :D)
