This is wonderful! So nice to see an author who's thinking about the human side of things, all the practical stuff that they ignore in the comics and movies. There's so much drama in the day-to-day stuff, and you did a great job of showing it. :) Nerd all you want! It gives your story a ring of authenticity.

Just out of curiosity, do you have a ballpark estimate of how much money the US government would have given Steve Rogers, if he were a real soldier in this situation? Are we talking a millionaire, here? :)

Best things here:

1) Colonel Rogers is perfect! He deserves this recognition! The full pack!
2) Women around him, not being his love interest. The agent, the major. He doesn't have to fall in love with the 1st woman he sees. He's mourning Peggy. It'll take time.

Finally, a fanfic writer who's willing to give a little reality to Cap! You actually remembered (unlike many fanfickers) that Cap's a soldier first and a superhero second. YAY! Thank you also for the realistic portrayal of paperwork. Haha. I'm from an Army family, paperwork has become something of a running gag/nightmare for the uncles, cousins, and great-uncles in my family.

I always feel so bad for poor Steve! That would be my worst nightmare. And I'm a minor comic book fan, but right now I like the movie better anyway, considering that Umtimate Captain America sucks. Good job with characterization, i could see what was going on!

I think this is what supposed to happen in Cap 2 movie. I wish it happens in The Avengers, I guess that's what fanfic is for.

Not in the military myself, but most of my family has served. I didn't think about it when watching the movie, but now that I think about it, Captain Roger's situation would have been a paperwork nightmare. Good story.

I love the pathos and the sheer overwhelming confusion and sadness that the Captain feels here. You've got movieverse!Steve so well.

Great bonus of you actually knowing what you're writing about - in most fic universes, it's really hardly ever the case.
