Of; course Snape is glad to die-the Order would certainly have killed him or put him in Azkaban if he had lived. It was much easier for Harry to deal with a dead hero than a living Headmaster. His life of slavery to two masters was not the sort to encourage hanging on to it.
If Harry really showed any gratitude, he was the only one (Gryffindors rarely enjoy being proven wrong).
No, Snape is much safer where he is.

That was beautiful. I always wondered what had become of Severus his soul when he died; wether he would return to Hogwarts like all other ghosts did or anything else...
But if things would have gone like this, I'm sure he would have thought, even said, those very same words.
