Reviews for Dawn of a Generation
Guyzer1 chapter 1 . 5/14/2021
It's very sad that nobody is allowed to talk about Sonic without getting punched down. Whenever I attempt to assert my own desires, words like "toxic," "butthurt," "cringe," and "autistic" normally follow. I've even considered quitting gaming because the gaming community is so horrible, and I've been called too sensitive for that.

This defamation campaign going on with Sonic needs to stop. You're one-hundred-percent correct that failure is human, but to forgive is divine. Gamers don't care about forgiveness, unfortunately. I'm glad Sonic '06 came into my life because it only helped me appreciate what I've got.
The Bad Singer chapter 1 . 2/21/2018
Wow. This is an awesome perceptive on the Sonic series, and life in general.
MasterMeister999 chapter 1 . 3/8/2015
Each time I read this, I think I cry a little.

Thank you.

Thank you so much writing this.

Sonic the Hedgehog is the most underrated and under-appreciated mascot ever.

I am sick and tired of every video game critic and random nobody saying that he is overrated and needs to die. Sonic is responsible for laying the foundation of gaming as we know it and gets way too much of a bad rap. You think that people would band together and work to solve it's problems instead of getting more and more hateful with every game. Also, I think it's high time everyone grew up and got the hell over Sonic '06, it wasn't responsible for 9/11. If his games are still able to sell and make money then there has to be value in them despite their supposedly low quality.

It’s a huge double standard that people take it all out on a creation one amount and then judge the creator the next. What if the same thing happens and Mario’s games see a decline in quality? Are people going to blame him for his own downfall and not the management?

None of cast member's bother me at all and I enjoy looking up fan made originals characters. Like I said, instead of banding together and providing constructive criticism on how to improve these characters, people bitch way too much. There is a much more productive way around the franchise's problems instead of pointing. Another thing people need to quit doing is dumping all over the fans by lumping them all into one big bad group. Not everyone complains about every single change or new addition and there are creative and unique characters that they have made, and I am willing to prove the latter. I feel that I don't have to prove the former as I believe that it should be common knowledge.

Check all this out.

It is incredibly sad that there are people out there that want to see Sonic and his fandom obliterated and I care way too much to let anything like that happen. People need to stand up and challenge that way of thinking because I feel that it damages people. I should know because I regretfully used to be one of them.

Once again, thank you so much.
DragonKnight159 chapter 1 . 5/17/2012
That was...well...damn. No kidding that Sonic's fans keep getting whinier the longer he's around. Each adventure has added to the experience and should have made him one of the most loved characters of all time. I don't know how but you've somehow captured that in words. Bravo, my good sir, bravo.
Starlightlovesya123 chapter 1 . 5/13/2012
UL, I'd almost forgotten the lovely simplicity of your writing. There are no convoluted meanings or twisting phrases. It's just concise, pure and pointed. The way you structured this brought back some weird emotion I didn't know still existed, and made me miss my little Blue Blur. I guess I'll always love him. It's hard to stop loving someone when you give so much of yourself to him.

But, anyway, I sound both like a major nerd and a major GIRL, so I'll get to the point-this is not Shakespeare. But it's pretty incredible, in that it sparks emotion and gives you Sonic's entire history without any awkward backstory paragraphs or explanatory breaks. It flows perfectly.

Gahh, I've missed you, my friend. :)

This is a really good work. I could recognize every single game you described in this. Well written and full of emotions.
FawfulInsano chapter 1 . 12/13/2011
My god... this story/poem is fantastic!

It almost seems as though I'm looking at Sonic's history through the games and beyond the fourth wall!

Yet this makes me wonder whether this is Sonic's point of view, or Sega's harsh (yet strong!)journey throughout the franchise...

And the way you describe his pain and shame through his... not so bright age, made me feel so much pity and guilt for doubting his potential.

You sir, deserve a f***ing award for making me smile.
Mya Latti chapter 1 . 11/15/2011
This was so beautiful and I enjoyed it immensely, good job :)

I'm not much good at reviewing, but I want to say that this is probably one of the best Sonic fics I've ever read. It was so in depth, and was from Sonic's point of view as well (I love fics like that :D), which was great. It really made him seem like an actual being, not just a "hero". Oh, and the way is was written was almost poetic, how lovely :)

I don't just read pokemon, I love Sonic too :D So keep it up! (oh, and thanks for the review earlier!)
Ghostkid33 chapter 1 . 8/5/2011
Wow! You described Sonic's whole history between 2,000-3,000 words! This is amazing! It's a shame the way Sonic is mistreated by his fans...everytime he stars in a new game, the fanbase complains and when he gives them what they wants, they STILL have something to say. Seriously, nobody is satisfied these days. I'm still rooting for you Sonic! Keep on running man!
Inita chapter 1 . 8/5/2011
People like you, make me wonder why all these 'new-bie' writers get reviews. People like you, made me consider whether I should stop writing for this archive, or just stick to it. Fortunately, I stuck with the former and I'm satisfied with the results. People like you, deserve more credit than all these other writers in this archive who THINK they can write and who THINK that they don't need any critique/help.

You have written everything so fine, yet I cannot find many mistakes. I have found a few, but they're so trivial that I'd be wasting time pointing them out. You have expressed (basically) the main point/tone of Sonic's life in just 2,189 words. You have just created a magnificent fanfic that is going to my favorites; I have not added a Sonic fanfic to my favorites in such a long time. Unfortunately, I'll have to see more fanfics with amazing writing just to return to this archive. However, at the same time, I don't see that happening because I cannot bear the high immaturity from the majority of these writers in this archive.

Past experience with a critique has taught me this well.

Koollolly chapter 1 . 8/5/2011
...Woah, that was so good. No, not good... Great! Incredible! Amazing!

You know, I never did believe that those sorts of "fans" are even fans at all. If they were his fans, they would not moan and complain about every single detail in the games. The true fans are the ones who hang on end for his new adventure and can all agree it was worth the wait.

We're all behind you Sonic! Every running step of the way!
DanceDream chapter 1 . 8/5/2011
Wow... Just... Wow... That was majorly insightful! Not to mention beautiful, descriptive, enjoyable... Wow.

I find myself often commenting nowadays that Sonic has the whiniest fanbase in the history of whiny fanbases (no offense to anyone!). It drives me insane. It certainly is hard to look past the whiners and see the hardcore, true fans, as Sonic points out here. The ones who, like me, actually see improvement with each game that's released. But they're there.

This is a wonderful job of documenting Sonic's history. I tried (oh, how I tried!), but you did better with it than I could have ever done. And you didn't even use names! D Definitely amazing.

Not to mention the nearly spotless grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I always look out for these types of things, so good job!

All-around incredible story! Great job!
EcoJakk chapter 1 . 8/5/2011
This story is such a good outlook on Sonics life. It quite nearly made me cry.
