Red-Hag chapter 6 . 1/19/2022 i realllyyy love how this is going. This slow anticipation, slow tension, characters poping here ans there... like a puzzle we would be discovering the pièces while knowing them anyway. this is addictive! |

Triskaid chapter 21 . 5/9/2021 It’s really difficult to write this review without getting incredibly nostalgic... reading through your story again really brought me back to those old high school days (even though I don’t think the final two chapters were posted until I was in college). It was a blast to revisit. Usually looking back on my old fanfic days makes me cringe with embarrassment (both at the... ahem... material... I was reading, as well as my own embarrassing attempts at writing), but I remembered Sound the Clarion being of an unparalleled quality. And while I found the odd typo here and there, the pacing and the storytelling and the characters were just as well realized (and delightful!) as those rose-tinted recollections. I really can’t stress enough how much I adore this story. Back in the day, I think it was a passing line from Sound the Clarion that made me start writing in earnest. I wasn’t very good, though I had convinced myself the opposite was true. Maybe I was good among teenagers? But aside from that I was passionate about it. I enjoyed writing more than doing anything else, even though it was difficult and honestly the opposite of relaxing. So for that I really appreciate your work. I’m no successful writer(tm) nowadays, but it’s a hobby/skill I’ll always be grateful for and Sound the Clarion was the match that lit the spark. After I left college a couple years I ago I had sort of stopped writing due to some mental health issues that overtook me (ah, Untreated ADHD Existential Aimlessness Financial Anxiety, what a delicious cocktail). I had projects and a few ideas and LOADS of excess time all of a sudden, and yet I never really found the strength to sit down and commit finger to keyboard. Well, in a word processor anyway. Those issues haven’t necessarily gone away (thanks pandemic, I love you too), but they’ve eased ever so slightly. And when I came back to read this story a couple weeks ago, I think it helped me remember what I loved about writing initially: writing a silly, trope-y, fun story about the exact kind of bullshit that tickles my heartstrings. So all of that to say, Sound the Clarion has once again inspired me to write fanfic. And I’ve been having a goddamn blast, more than I have writing in long, long time. So I have to thank you for that as well. I dunno how long I’ll be able to keep it up (ADHD sucks) but it’s been great. (It also does not exist anywhere on the internet yet because I don’t like posting incomplete things anymore. Maybe one day!) Anyway this has basically become a personal screed. I’m not sure what to say as a reviewer, rather than a commenter. Uh... story good, it formative personally for me, characters fun, premise fun, plot deep and well executed, great payoff, please read this five-year-old webnovel other people on nostalgia trips. If that isn’t doing my due diligence um, sorry? And once again, thank you for this story! |
Minnie1015 chapter 21 . 3/10/2021 One of my favorite stories. Thanks for sharing your passion with us! I hope you’re doing well! |
Amaya130 chapter 3 . 12/21/2019 I'm super enjoying this! I'll definitely review the rest of the chapters, but by executive decision I started reading this at midnight my time and I must sleep D: I will be back. I was also super sad over Garrus missing his mother, and Novas...Novos? Being captured when she passed, ouch. Ngl for like this last half of the chapter I shipped Shepard and Novos...a lot. Love me that enemies to lovers trope lol. Thanks for writing! I will be back... |
Murky Heron chapter 21 . 10/2/2019 Oh, and thank you so much for the recommendations of other fics. Now my 'to read later' list has grown back to daunting proportions despite my recent attempt to work through it. |
Murky Heron chapter 21 . 10/2/2019 A whole day and a night spent reading this piece. Can't say I regret pushing aside all other plans for it. A really breathtaking story packed with action (as if we could expect anything else from Shepard), deep characters who behave naturally, and a brilliant alternative story that doesn't follow the game plot. A rare gem in this fandom. I am looking forward to reading this again later to enjoy details I might have overlooked while devouring the story. |
LewsTherin chapter 1 . 7/11/2019 AH yes. I think I will enjoy this. :3 |
Headless dullahan chapter 21 . 3/14/2018 *sobs* i didn't want it to end :( I can read another 100 chapters of this story. I'm blown away. |
Headless dullahan chapter 14 . 3/13/2018 Shepard daydreaming in the morning and then this: "She held onto that dream for a moment, took a deep, slow breath...then let it go. And that was that." ... almost crushed me. I felt so sad. *sobs* |
Headless dullahan chapter 11 . 3/12/2018 Woah this chapter was amazing. Loved every scene in it. I love how you slowly build up Sheparf/Garrus romance. Totally agree about forming a friendship between them first. Everything feels so real. Their dialogue and interaction is so natural. |
Headless dullahan chapter 8 . 3/12/2018 Fckkk i'm so hook up. Amazing story. Amazing character. I can't stop reading the story. I read in the bus, on my lunch break at work ... everytime i have a free minute. Love Garrus and Shepard personality in here. |
