| cfigueroa78 chapter 14 . 3/4
I know that forgiveness is something that is always highly touted as the ultimate way to really heal but I think that's complete crap. There are some things that cannot be forgiven, but it doesn't mean you cannot move forward. What Renee did is something Bella should not ever forgive. She can choose to move past it but she doesn't need to forgive Renee just so that Renee's conscience can feel at peace. Renee simply has to live and now die with the result of her cruelty and actions. We can never forget or forgive someone for certain actions but we can choose not to let it devour and destroy us. I think that's where the difference lies.

I understand Charlie's remorse but his inaction is still unforgivable. You can't just turn your emotions off when you have children because things got too hard. Yes, he was out of the loop because he let his wife carry his balls in her purse and he emotionally abandoned his daughter. What's really bad in hindsight is that if he spoke to her in private at least once, he may have found out what was going on and done something. Instead he turned a blind eye. Bella could be dead right now and a lot of the blame would be on his inability to be there when she needed him. She's very brave and amazing to even give any of them an ounce of forgiveness. Whatever reason Edward has for not contacting her right now while she's in prison is unacceptable. He just keeps showing that he is never there when she needs him despite how much she gave him in terms of love, support and friendship when they were growing up. Even if he's working to help her - simply reaching out to her to let her know he hasn't abandoned her would make a world of difference.

I feel horrible for Bella and no, she should not take the blame for this. Some people are saying she shouldn't be charged because she's Anthony's mother but unfortunately she doesn't have legal custody. So that does make it kidnapping and is often common in child custody disputes. It's clear that as a minor, she was duped into giving up her son and she didnt do so willingly. It would be very unfortunate if Tanya, Renee and Charlie are not held legally responsible for tricking a young woman into giving up her child without her consent.

It's sad how many people think that staying in an unhappy marriage for the benefit of their child or children is what's best. Children are more observant and impressionable than we often realize. Staying in an unhappy marriage will not benefit anyone, including the child. If anything, children can presume that hostility and animosity between parents is normal. Yes, divorce is rough but it's tougher having a child watch a hellish marriage between their parents.

This was one of the best most agonizing stories I've read here on FF. I'm not a real fan of angsty stories but every so often I'll read one and this one was great! Regardless of the angst, I love reading stories that make you feel; even after the story is over. Thank you for sharing.

Really great story but I wasn't happy with the warm fuzzy ending between Bella and Tanya. I understand the need to let go of anger but what Bella's family did to her does fall under the category of unforgivable acts. Some things in life we can get over and move on with time but having your child taken away and given to your sister, having your parents abandon you and force you out of the family, etc. Bella dealt with drug problems and suicide because of them - how is that remotely forgivable? Edward screwed up majorly too. He knew how he hurt Bella growing up and slapped her in the face for choosing her sister over her. A three year age difference - that was exaggerated immensely. Yes having sex at 14 with a 17/18 year old is wrong but it's not unheard of obviously. I just did not like how much people took a huge chunk out of her and never really paid for it. Renee died because she was I'll. Tanya suffered humiliation - Bella suffered losing her child, being homeless, depressed, drug addiction, etc. NO COMPARISON.

Please rip Renee and Tanya's heads off. I'm very disappointed in Charlie and he doesn't deserve Bella's forgiveness. He was an awful parent and can never fix that. What I find irksome, and maybe it's just the way the story is written, is how the Chief of Police didn't put in a public effort to search for his teenage daughter. Of course in real life a Chief of Police who really was worried as Charlie claimed would have left no stone unturned. Bella was still in the damn country - in Seattle for heavens sake.

Love Jake here and what a great friend he's been - Rosalie too. I was wondering the same thing about the statute of limitations on the statutory rape and I do believe that yes, it's ten years.
