Other than that little nitpicking, excellent chapter. I love that Hermione and Ron aren't in a sappy suck-face moment here. Seems that there's a non-canonical schism there. I'll be interested to see where that goes.

Well, it is certainly interesting. So far it is classic "what if he survived..." story but even so it is clear that you probably won't continue in the way: "And then he was beloved by everyone, changed completely and fell in love with this girl before end of the chapter 5." I think you are going to take slower - and also more believable - path and I like it. I would like it even if the HGSS thing was just friendship and no romance and if she still married Ron - but it is up to you to decide.

Anyway I am looking forward to next chapters and I wish you to be able to stay on that quality you started. So good luck. :-)

I like where this is headed. I feel that the "Oh crap, what do I do" moment that Hermione has really hearkens back to the first book and the Devil's Snare episode. I find that part of her character is a chink in the armor of her intellect. As long as nobody's going to die in the next two minutes, magic comes to her easily. But in the moment of crisis, she freezes and Harry steps up with the right answer, or an answer (we'll see if it was enough). And I love your portrayal of Ron..."Well, he screwed us, so screw him!", that, coupled with his utter buffoonery, hearken back to GoF and his feud with Harry.

All in all, good stuff. Looking forward to the next chapter. :D
