So many missed opportunities for Snape. I think the general idea at the moment is that he was pretty awful, loving Lily or not, and his behaviour in the main books is on the whole inexcusable. But seeing it from the start- I think a really interesting theme around the Marauders is choice - choosing what's right, what's not, etc, and this of course bleeds over into Snape... I suppose makes him not more sympathetic per se, but more understandable. A whole lot of traumatised kids here.

Ah! What a lovely chapter. Very enjoyable. Dorcas Meadowes is just fantastic - very boarding school.

At last we see some of the Remus we'll come to know! Ah. A rewarding character arc coming into play. It's sad how early in their Hogwarts years the war starts to creep in: slowly and believably.
I think James needs some opportunities to show Sirius and Remus he's more understanding than they think! Though perhaps that too will come with time. It does good for him (with a much more privileged and easy upbringing) to have friends like them. I think he'll learn a lot.

It's funny - I always imagined James to be more unquestioningly accepting, from the sorts of things we hear about him from Sirius and Remus. I'll be interested to see the changes in his character that will come later in this story.

I'm always a fan of bits of world building - so I enjoyed reading about Wizarding Oxford. It always made sense to me there'd be Wizard universities.
I do wish Remus could come to some better understanding with his father. They're obviously very similar. My hopes for future chapters!

Nice to see some Remus & James friendship - and what James might be under all the joking! In the books I suppose we hear about that a lot but never see it so much (all our Marauders snippets coming mostly from Snape). Though of course it's only natural now that Remus and Sirius would have more of an understanding - sadly so...

I love how conscientious Remus is to save the straws. All these little details that point to a very good upbringing by Mrs Lupin.
Practical application of hexes required by James and Sirius - I suppose the book's descriptions weren't vivid enough!
It's just heartbreaking how Remus' condition is nudged gently into even very light-hearted scenes. You do it so perfectly I almost can't be annoyed...
This is maybe odd but including a leap day as well just points to the intense detail in this story. Your checking of calendars has made this other very painstaking writer feel a little justified.
And - a fan of TH White! Just when I thought this story couldn't get any better.

This is the only story I ever really return to ffn for (and many, many times), and it'd be fantastic to read it without ads for resin driveways in between...! I wish you all the best and hope above all things you are still writing - anything! You've got a fantastic talent.

The first time I read this story, was when it was published first. since then I still check from time to time to see it was update.

Hi, I'm just here because I came back for my yearly reread of AtM, checked the reviews out of curioisity, and I greatly disagree with the last guest. It is not a shame this story was left unfinished (or at least, on a long hiatus). Writing fanfiction is a labour of love, and this insanely high amount of chapters you gave us is already some of the best writing I've seen in any fandom in general. You should feel damn proud of getting this far. I wish you well, whenever you are.

I just read this story for the first time and it’s such a shame you put some many years into this to simply abandon the fic. It’s a wonderful story and very well written just a massive shame you didn’t complete it.
