And now I'm crying. I had a feeling you were going to sort of stick to canonBut seriously, you did a wonderful job on this story. Can't wait to read your other stories.

I hate you so much. You had me sobbing my eyes out. I knew Fred was gonna die, but I still hoped you'd work your way around it. Still it was a great story and you did a wonderful job with it. Very unique and I liked it. :)

I couldn't review this right away because it was simply too sad. I knew that you had to do it this way, but I had still hoped that it wouldn't happen. Anyway, I loved this story and I look forward to reading other stories that you write.

Oh my god I'm crying now. Poor, poor George.
I also loved the last part in which you describe the soldiers' return and how people look away. It's one of the problems that the soldiers faced back then - to the civilians, the war was far away and they didn't want to face the consequences, and lots of ex-soldiers that were wounded in battle had afterwards difficulties to get back to their old lives because they weren't able to take up their old work. In Germany, the soldiers of WW I were later often called "Verlorene Generation" - Lost Generation - because even though they survived the war they couldn't really get on with their lives. Too off topic, sorry couldn't help it (the sequel to "All quiet on the Western front" is "The road back" and it's among my favourite books, well worth reading!).
You described the horror of war and how it effects everyone - soldiers and civilians - very well in this story, and all the way through I could feel their pain, especially George's and Molly's. It's tough to realize that despite the wars we've had, families still have to go through nightmares like this. One might think that man should have learned the lesson after WW I, WW II, Vietnam... but no. :(
Brilliant story, hope to read more from you soon!

Wow, at first I was a little nervous about this story, and it really hadn't grabbed my attention, but now I can't stop reading it! I think you did a great job, it's very creative, the way how you turned all the characters into soldiers and put them into battle! Great job!

I knew it was going to happen, but I'm still horribly depressed now. :( And I definitely understand why you were reluctant to post it... I guess there's no more hope for a happy ending, then. Well, update soon please...

Nice, I like Percy trying to be nice to the twins and them meeting Padfoot, Moony and Prongs.

Oh my god I was afraid of that part. And now I'm sitting here in tears. George is with Fred and that's something I wish had happened in the book, too. But then again it makes it even harder. Seeing a loved one die in front of your eyes and not being able to do anything is probably even harder than not being there and finding out later, if that makes any sense?
I'm looking forward to the epilogue, it will be interesting to see how George deals with losing the Fred and the war in general. In the novel "All quiet on the Western front" the author describes the young people who fought in WW 1 as the "Lost Generation" and somehow I guess that term fits for George, too.

This was beautifully written, and it made me cry. Please post the epilogue soon.

NO! This chapter made me cry so hard... WHY FRED, WHY!
| Dimcairien chapter 12 . 7/8/2012
I almost want to throttle you for killing Fred, but I have to say, I expected it as you were keeping the rest of the deaths. Poor George. He's probably going to start blaming himself. I do like how you're keeping this similar to HP in several ways, despite the time difference and the no magic.
I just wanted say she you had that brief paragraph about the world being red an back, I began to sing that song from Les Mis. :)
Pleas update as soon as you can.

Nooo. I avoid DH compliant fics coz of this. But this is a brilliant AU and you're a great writer. Thanks for updating :D
P.s: I refuse to admit that Fred is... (I won't even say that word coz it isn't true) :'(
