|Reviews for Bludgeonings of Chance|
| azerjaban chapter 1 . 5/3/2013
Just finished rereading the series till the 4th book, this was a beutiful side scene, so perfectly in character :
"Well, you see, Max, the thing is," Calderon says, smiling tiredly, "that I'm apparently the princeps of Alera."
Max blinks. "Right, and I'm a Parcian dancing girl."
I always wished I could see Max' reaction...and his first (or any) conversation with Kitia

Good job. I definitely liked this glimpse into Max' head. I especially enjoyed his thoughts about how High Lady Antillus really should try harder to kill him. This is a perfect demonstration of just how exhausted he is. But my favourite moment was the scene with Crassus. Both scenes, in fact. Conveys Crassus' guilt and regret so beautifully.

Most beautiful and cutting part of this story was definitely the bit with Max remembering Crassus with the kite, apologising in tears. Beautiful imagery. Well done.

When reading this, I was nodding every few lines. This is just the reaction I would imagine Max having.
I also liked the more touching brotherly bonding scene.
