|Reviews for Choices: How to Make a Life|
| Guest chapter 9 . 1/13
This is a sweet and very satisfying story, thanks for writing it
| Scandalpants chapter 9 . 11/2/2013
Just found your story and wanted to let you know I really enjoyed it. The dream sequences were great, and you totally got me.
I appreciate the long, winding, worthwhile road L&V took to find their way back to each other. I love the reminder that in the middle of this great love they are friends and really enjoy spending time together. That they are each other's favorite people.
The description of the locket was beautiful, and absolutely something I could imagine her wearing.

I know this one's been around for awhile, but I just got into reading fan fiction. Your story is one is one of the very best on the VM site. Not only extremely well written, but it really elicited an emotional response. I mean, who cries over fan fiction?
The way V and L tackle a lot (and they have a lot) of very serious issues and conflicts over the course of your story, and actually work toward resolving them was very well done. And you've managed to make them seem completely in character throughout - or what one hopes their characters might have matured into.

This was simply beautiful, achingly so. I can't believe it's the only VM fic (or any fic) that you've written for this site! You need to never stop writing. I try to give thoughtful reviews so here goes. Apologies in advance for the length. The more I love a story the harder it is for me to shut up! :)
What I loved most about the story was the character development and how we can see the growth in both Logan and Veronica over time, but especially Veronica since we're in her head for most of the story. I think this is one of the few fics where we can really see the friendship between these two without the immediate need to turn it into something more even though we know a LoVe ending is eventual. I just enjoyed them being in each other lives as friends because honestly that is the true foundation of any relationship and sometimes I think this quality is missing from some VM fics, because sometimes writers are so caught up in writing their epic love story that they forget to bring the friendship, but this wasn't the case with your's.
I particularly like the slow build (Logan being patient and waiting for Veronica to realize that she wants to try again, sigh) and the use of flashbacks. I completely bought that Veronica recognizes the choices she makes and the consequences of each choice specifically in the dream fake-outs in "The Wide Road" and "The Safe Road" chapters (great chapter titles btw!). I think without these, Veronica would come off as a little OOC since she normally acts on impulse, consequences be damned.
I think giving Logan "the Green Room" story line was a smart move, it not only was the vehicle for Logan's growth but also gave him something that was separate from Veronica so that his life wasn't all about her. And Logan doing something altruistically because the cause spoke to him was awe-inspiring. I love this adult version of him and how he finally feels worthy of Veronica.
I've always been a sucker for epistolary relationships so I totally dug the email exchanges between them. There's so many hidden nuances and meaning in each word, space, line within text and I love that Veronica characteristically obsessed over reading in between the lines, because that's something I would totally do. And also thanks for bringing the romance! The locket, the beach picnic, the proposal (best proposal ever! I should print it out and make my husband memorize it and repeat on demand, haha), all made my heart clench oh so good. I also love that you resolved the Duncan/Madison issues because they needed to clear the air before truly moving on.
I also loved that you highlighted Veronica's relationships with Keith and Howie. Keith and Veronica's father-daughter relationship is the heart of the show (arguably more so than LoVe in some aspects) so I'm glad that it got featured in this fic. Some fic writers will leave poor Keith by the wayside to laser focus on Logan and Veronica and I'm glad you didn't. I was fascinated by Veronica's relationship with her mentor, Howie, and how she could see herself becoming like young-him one day if she didn't make certain choices.
I really enjoyed the epilogue, though it was on the sappy side, it was everything I didn't know I wanted and it felt so... to borrow Rob Thomas' word... earned. So again, great story, wonderful pacing, amazing character development, thoughtful writing and perfect ending. I have favorited because I know I will want to reread again and again.

| 1stindia chapter 9 . 3/10/2013
I really loved your story. At first i didn't get the whole versions thing and I hated the fact that she didn't seem to have changed but it was truly amazing how you brought them back together again... I especially lived those developing messages and loans development
Thank you so much

Aww. This was so beautiful and heartfelt! You really took us in a journey (several, actually...) and when they finally married, I felt like you'd really made them earn it. Loved how intimate their moments together were, they always seemed intrinsically connected, despite not being 'together', and it could be sensed in person, over the phone, by email, text, and even just by thinking of each other. You really captured their epic, tortured, true love affair perfectly. Thanks for sharing this! Going on my favorites list now...
| azerjaban chapter 3 . 2/3/2013
Honestly stop doing that to me! Next chapter better be LoVe goodness.
| azerjaban chapter 2 . 2/3/2013

Just found this story and loved loved it!
| RedJane12 chapter 9 . 10/6/2012
I just read your story from start to finished and loved it! I thought the characters, esp. Logan and Veronica, were still true to themselves but their growth was very realistically portrayed - It wasn't easy to get onto the 'right' road (loved the titles too!) but I loved that you let them get there without last minute sudden 'new girlfriend/boyfriend' drama - It was lovely to read how they slowly worked and found a way to one another. Some fics spend little time on the final happy stretch and you got that so well... Congratulations!
PS - I am a big fan of Steenbeans fics too!

Wow! You got me everytime with that dream scenario at the beginning. Loved your use of flashbacks. Very realistic characterizations and relationship between V and Logan. :)
| jozac chapter 9 . 8/28/2012
I just read your story from beginning to end. I was riveted. It was so beautifully written and so well thought out. I just loved all of it, but mostly the beautiful journey to their happy ending. It is an extraordinary piece of work and you should be proud. Thank you for giving me this wonderful ending.

I really enjoyed your story. It was fun to see the different futures her life could have taken. You wrote the story well and I especially enjoyed how long you had them work on their friendship before they became a couple again. You captured their angst in a realistic way and I look forward to reading more from you.
