In this chapter, your characterization of Violet is very similar to JF...actually, your writing on M/M is better than JF.

I am reading this chapter the 2nd time and I must say I'd missed so much from the 1st time reading it.

The part where you wrote about captain james sleep-walking into the dinning room and cutting himself and Mary giving the speech of being lucky and crying at the same time; Gd! that part really hits home.

I dont know if you meant it like this but when one is so deeply hurt as Mary by matthew, one simply has to cling to any little hope that things will turn out right or be "lucky" otherwise "what is the point".

That is brilliant in character observation.

I reread chapter 3 and I love your phrase "doused with water and more than a little shook-up, cold and miserable...

so aptly described of M/M.

Some of your phrases are humourous and quite brilliant.

I really like your dialogue and the humour is just so good...Matthew..."he wants to marry the woman I love. he is the antichrist and "don't be so melodramatic"' so many more funny lines.

Absolutely brilliant. I did grow attached to James once I was assured you were not beginning a love square, and I was sorry to see him go. I thought that this was wonderful, and there is a part of me that is happy that you did not 'do away' with Lavinia and kill her off. I always thought that that was too tidy. However, my one issue, is that I can no longer enjoy the Christmas special, because it does not contain the spectacular telling off between Violet and Richard. She should have done that! IT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED. So, you know. Thank you for THAT.

But most of all, thank you for this. I hope you continue with this pairing, and legendary BAMF, Violet Crawley.

The Crawleys pulled the perfect one-two punch on Sir Richard: first Matthew wailed on him with fists of fury, then Violet finished him off with some well-time name-dropping. Very nicely done :)

And I'm happy to admit that I find the idea of M and M making out in the hall, oblivious to the presence of others, completely delightful!
