Susan W chapter 22 . 12/7/2004 Woohoo! Finally an update on this story! I've been checking at least once a week for the past, well months and months, for a new chapter and finally it is there. I've said it before and I'll say it again, you write the brothers 'Mir so very believable, and your OCs, especially Anakil ("Troublemaker") and The Poet, are some of the best. I love Faramir getting stern with Boromir and making him rest. And of course Boromir is the reluctant patient. I do hope the next update comes along a little (well, ok, alot) quicker than the last one. |
Circini chapter 22 . 12/7/2004 *happy dance* i was just thinking of this story yesterday morning! i am delighted that another wonderful chapter has been added. thank you. not much of a review, i know, but i'm too happy at the moment. |
Raksha The Demon chapter 22 . 12/7/2004 Hooray - a new chapter! I'm blown away by the wonderful Faramir/Boromir interaction. I love the way you had Faramir channel his inner Denethor for a positive purpose; it's very believable, and the last lines of that scene, when Faramir loses the anger, are heart-rending... Now I have to go and reread the earlier chapters to see if there's any possibility that the Poet could be alive...I liked him. |
daw the minstrel chapter 22 . 12/7/2004 Now this update is a blast from the past! I was afraid this story had been forgotten. Like Anakil, I don't want the Poet to be dead. And I have to tell you that Anakil is so well portrayed in his mix of strength and vulnerability. I was glad to see Glaurung too (love the name, by the way). The brothers Gondor are also well done. Faramir is apparently able to be quite sharp tongues when he needs to be! I suppose he's been a captain for a good many years now. You don't command soldiers without the ability to tear a strip off them now and again. |
undernourished-hobbit chapter 21 . 6/1/2004 It hasn't been three months... it's been SIX BLEEDIN' MONTHS! Update please, it's killing me! |
Radbooks chapter 21 . 3/27/2004 This is a wonderful story. I sat down to read it yesterday and couldn't stop until I finished it all! You do a great job of making these characters seem real and alive. You have come up with a unique perspective - focusing on the messageners - that is greatly appreciated by this reader. It is often hard to find a story here that is really original but this one is. Looking forward to a new update! |
Susan W chapter 1 . 1/24/2004 Wow. Wonderful story line and excellent character development. Author brings to life the battle for Osgiliath and Ithilien. Battle scenes are very realistic and intense. And I love the way Boromir and Faramir are portrayed. Faramir was always my favorite character (books and movies). The actors (Sean Bean and David Wenham) did excellent jobs of portraying the characters and that is who I visualize when I read your story. I can't wait to read more. I hope you update soon. |
oompa loompa chapter 20 . 1/18/2004 Wonderfully written! I praise your writing skills and look forward to the next chapter! Keep up this fabulous work! And don't give up. |

Gypsie Rose chapter 21 . 1/15/2004 A new chapter of "Messages" is always cause for celebration! I'm enjoying this immensely, and I'm very impressed at how you fill in the detail while staying true to the tone of Tolkien. But what a place to end the chapter-I'll be anxiously waiting to see what comes next! -Rose |
Aurora West chapter 3 . 1/7/2004 This is quite good so far. When I have more time I will finish reading it. Your English, by the way, is basically perfect, and far better than that of most of the native English speakers posting at this site. However, there seems to be some kind of bizarre formatting thing going on, turning all quotation marks into a jumble of symbols. It may just be my computer, but I don't think that's the case. Just thought I would let you know. :) |
Altariel chapter 21 . 1/4/2004 Another terrific chapter, Shakes, and so pleased that you updated, even if it took you 3 months! :-D Continues to be one of my very favourite fics. Happy New Year! |
Namari chapter 21 . 1/3/2004 Shakes! Don't ever think about giving up again! Please, the story is wonderful. You have the perfect pace, you never rush on with your story and you portray every character so well! I would wait even longer than 3 month for an up-date if you would just continue! So go on! Please |
spacecow1 chapter 21 . 1/2/2004 Shakes- I really have to tell you (and please forgive me for my bad English) that this is the most amazing fic I have ever read, and I read alot of fics! Your story is so rich, so interesting, so Lord of The Rings! I mean- your fic is perfectly capable of being called a chapter in the history of Gondor. I really have to ask you NOT to stop writing this fic because it is truely amazing! Some day when you'll become a very famouse writer- I can tell I read your first stories. :-) |
