Tylendal chapter 21 . 1/2/2004 more plz |
Namari chapter 1 . 12/3/2003 Hi Shakes, ich wußte doch, dass wir die gleiche Muttersprache haben! But anyway, it was good to hear from you again, even if it was just a note that you are still alive. I hope that you will update soon, because you left us with another cliffhanger and I must know how the story goes on! Your story is simply brilliant. I have followed it for more than a year, so I definitely owe you a review! It is absolutely amazing how well you write in English and I do envy you for your elaborate vocabulary! Hope to hear more about Anakil and the Poet, Namarië |
Natsu Hiko chapter 11 . 11/14/2003 This descriptions are so vivid, you can smell and hear Ithilden or feel the fury of the Lieutenat, (that was truly scary, for a moment I though that he was about to eat the poor boy!). I thing that this is the magic of write and read, the power of the word, as you point in your story. |
daw the minstrel chapter 20 . 10/1/2003 I am so impressed by the way you blend interior and exterior action. Small things add up to big tension in this chapter. You are so patient in telling up what Anakil sees and feels and knows and remembers. I am deeply jealous of you for being able to write this story. |
ErinRua chapter 20 . 10/1/2003 Hello Shakes ~ *pokes head out of Real Life* How wonderful to see an update to this story! I'd been rather worrying what would come next - although dagnabbit, you've left me worrying at the end of THIS chapter, too! LOL! Anywho, as ever I found this to be very well done. I am really liking Anakil's friendship with the Poet, and how the Poet just seems to miraculously keep coming up in one piece. I hope his luck will hold ... And also thought you did an excellent job with Faramir and Boromir's reunion, touching but not saccharine, very much a greeting of brothers and brothers-in-arms. I hope your muses will keep working for you, as this is definitely one of the most enjoyable LOTR fics I am following, and I will keep following to see where you take us. Heck, one of the facets I love is that you are *not* predictable. Great work! :-) Cheers ~ Erin |
Gypsie Rose chapter 19 . 8/22/2003 Oh huzzah, an update at long last! What a wonderful chapter-it only whets my appetite for more. That bit at the end where Boromir is walking on the riverbank alone was quite creepy. Wonderful writing! -Rose |
fhan chapter 19 . 8/20/2003 This story is so wonderful and yet it has so little reviews. I'm usually very sceptical about OC-stories, but I really got hooked on this one. Shakes, you truly are a talented writer, your characters appear very real and you know how to capture the readers attention. Thanks for sharing this story with us! *hurries off to read the latest chapter* |
Lirenel chapter 19 . 8/15/2003 Oh. my. gosh. This is an awesome story! I was holding my breath almost the entire time, breathing only when I realized I'd die if I didn't. I can't believe I never found this amazing story before. Please update soon! |
Soledad chapter 19 . 8/13/2003 Wow! Just wow! I'm glad to see this story returning - and what a return it is! You Poet is always good for a surprise, isn't he? Those were some bombshells you've dropped all along! |
daw the minstrel chapter 19 . 8/12/2003 I was so happy to see this update. I love this story and feared it had been abandoned. This chapter was as wonderful as all the others. Your patient attention to detail creates a realistic scene. And by the Valar, you are a storyteller! I find far too few of them in fanfiction. Your OCs are captivating, although I have to admit I also love their exchanges with the canon characters. Boromir is so in character, every inch the determined commander. |
Gypsie Rose chapter 18 . 5/5/2003 I admit I passed over this story two or three times, maybe more, before I finally started it. And then I kicked myself, because I've enjoyed it immensely! Your OC's fit seamlessly into the canon framework. The battle at Osgiliath is one of those things that I really wish Tolkien had written more about, so I like seeing fanfiction views of it. And "Still alive?"-argh, that's so sad. I've been visiting regularly to re-read my favorite bits while waiting for more. Keep up the good work! -Rose |
Guest chapter 18 . 3/7/2003 wow good chapter! |
Acacea chapter 18 . 3/7/2003 Great chapter. I loved the descriptions of the battle scenes. And I especially liked the way it's related by Anakil. It brings out everyone's perspective that way, not just the captains' but even an ordinary soldier's. Really nice. And i've just realised I hadn't reviewed chapter 17, so just so you know that was brilliantly done too!:-)The description of the soldiers' reaction to the nazgul was truly rivetting. Looking forward to more! |
daw the minstrel chapter 18 . 3/6/2003 Wow. What a powerful battle scene, full of confusion and fear and pain and glory. And the use of the brothers' customary greeting at the end was inspired. Excellent. |
Soledad chapter 18 . 3/6/2003 Shakes, this was fantastic. Terrible, frightening - and fantastic. The moment when that nameless soldier died for his Captain-General, Boromir feeling life leaving the soldier's grip. And then the fall of Poet. I think you chose your pen name rightly. |
