I was hesistant about reading this due to your summary, but this is far better than you think it is.
The characterisation seems logical, and I daresay Sayu might, in her frail mental state, have ended up going down the same route as her sibling in regards to dealing with issues that affect her life. For Light, his problems were more universal, but it makes perfect sense that Sayu would deal with more personal problems in an emotional way as she seemed far more connected to her 'human' side.
This was indeed dark, but deliciously so; it was well worth the read and you chronicled her emotions wonderfully. Thank you for sharing. C:
