No no noo why don't we get to see Jareth as Sarah's slave?! I was looking forward to that!

Oh gosh I love your stories. Are you going to continue this one? Please do! I always look forward to reading your work...

One of my favourite stories from the Laby Exchange! I love the tension you create between Jareth and Sarah, and especially like how awkward Sarah feels at seeing him again. It's something that doesn't always get enough good attention. The hockey game was exciting to read! And your characterisation of Toby is perfect. Little touches like Sarah's jealousy at how much Toby looks up to Jareth also really add a great dynamic between the three of them. And again, your one-shots always leave me wanting more, more, MORE! Lol. I want to see the scene where Toby told Jareth about his crush (and a scene with Jareth giving him man-to-man advice would be brilliant!). I also want to see Jareth be Sarah's slave for the day (that has some interesting possibilities...). But alas, I know you're busy with a dozen other amazing projects. I shall just sit over here in the corner and cross my fingers! :D

Excellent, as usual. I particularly like rebellious Toby-he hits just the right note.
| Ismira Daugene chapter 1 . 10/26/2011
Most excellent! A unique idea with the hockey theme. And flirty Jareth is... *shudder* brilliant! lol... Seriously though, a great piece of writing!

Nice story. Thanks for sharing. Keep smiling. :-)

Just as delicious the third time around, perhaps even more so. I read slowly, savoring every sentence like smooth chocolate.
There are so many things I love about this. I love how well you wrote the hockey parts of the story. Very believable. I could easily visualize the game.
And, of course, the interactions between Jareth and Sarah were amazing. I love the subtlety you used here. I am a believer in the "less is more" when it comes to creating that fantastic UST in stories, and you did just that. It's all completely understated, and yet, the tension was amped up all the more for it.
And the imagery. Fantastic stuff. I loved this: "He seemed almost...magnetic. She felt this pull, as if everything around him ached to touch him, to bend to his will." That's really what the Goblin King is like, isn't it?
I still say that I'd love to see how having the GK as a slave for a day turns out. But this story is perfect the way it is. If I could favorite this a million times over, it wouldn't be enough.
*gives you a standing ovation*

This was excellent!
Nice pacing, good characterizations, interesting plot idea. Nice writing - not too often one reads "sublimate" in a fiction piece. I particularly liked the tree chairs, the rose, and the favour to Sir Didymus.
If I have any quibble at all, is that Toby seems younger than 14, but then he may be young at heart, no?
Sigh. I'd love to be there when Jareth shows up on Saturday.

Oh I really LOVE this! It was one of my favourites from the exchange, your brilliance gave you away. ;)
Such a sweet story, funny and perfectly written. The game reminded me a little of the football match from Bedknobs and Broomsticks, I could just picture the goblins cheating. The Red Dwarf reference made me laugh too. And the Jareth and Sarah interaction was just yummy. *sigh*
In short, I loved every bit of it. VERY well done!
And I second the review that says we need an 'M' rated follow-on...
| cu-kid chapter 1 . 10/24/2011
It really was a strain to keep myself from just totally gushing over this story the first time I read it :) I've never had so much fun reading about a sport, lol. I also sometimes have mixed feelings about Toby in stories. He's one of those characters I feel has to be done just as well as Sarah or Jareth for me not to be bored by him. But I love him in this, just love him. He's everything a little brother should be; equal parts adorable and frustrating. In lesser hands, I think the goings-on between Jareth and Sarah would overshadow the story. But there's such a great balance of them and the events surrounding Toby that I found myself equally interested to find out who would win the hockey game as I was to read about Sarah and Jareth's underlying arc.
Once again, there are so many little things in your story that I love it would be ridiculous to quote them all. The J/S interactions were full of wonderful tension, the descriptions of Toby's game were interesting and delightfully funny. And, as always, I love how the story is like a snapshot of the characters' lives, how it ends with the promise of something more happening. This would be another one I would double favorite if I could :)

Now you need to write something in the M category to satisfy all that anticipation you just built. TLC
